Voter registration at the gas station
I was filling up yesterday, and a nice young lad approached me with a clipboard. This being the land of Constitutional Amendments, I figured he wanted a sig for his cause. He pointed to the Kerry/Edwards sticker on my back window and said, "I take it that you're already registered to vote." To wit, I said, "you betcha! are you out here registering folks?" He said, "yup, sure am." Now, feeling like an ass because I wasn't registering folks right then, I just wanted to turn the gas nozzle on myself and wait for a call on my cell phone to light me up like a Romeo y Julieta in the Gropenator's home. I told him how cool it was to be doing that, and thanked him for his initiative.

1. After they paid the bill I hope.
Didn't Bush say something about his friends in the oil business in SA when he was running? Isn't their something about he would know how to keep cost low or am I dreaming?

2. Not a bad place to catch potential voters
Some possibly in a bad mood with Bush over gas prices.

3. Maybe, but these were real youngsters
Probably barely old enough to vote, if that. I watched them for a few minutes while I was pumping, and they hit up everybody, including, I noted, a guy taking out a second mortgage to fill his Excursion with an NRA sticker on the back window.

Might've been a school project, or maybe they have cool parents bringing them up like this.

I should've asked more questions so that I could promote/write a letter of appreciation to the responsible parties.

But then, these kids are smarter than I was (or am). They just might "get" it, and I'm not giving them enough credit...

Registration materials and flyers, with a pen and everything. Someone's doing a good job, and I think it has something to do with MTV - although I don't have cable, so I wouldn't know the details.
