A Child Learns By What A Child Sees
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 12:54 PM by WLKjr
Okay, this is another rant I have just thought of after seeing the news this morning and about the bombing in fallujah. It doesn't really follow any logical line in some parts and in now way am I bad mouthing the troops.

A Child Learns By What A Child Sees

By WLKjr

Stop and think for a moment what the definition of terrorist is. Stop and think for a moment from a different point of view. From the eyes of a child. This is not a puff piece for terrorist, they are scum, plain and simple. What I am talking about is the war in Iraq that so many of U.S. citizens and coroporations support and love to talk about how well it is going.

We as Americans are led to believe that no matter what we do there we are promoting freedom. That we are liberating a culture and showing them the light. The light of what? Flashlights at the points of guns in the middle of the night? The air burst from fighter jets overhead followed by the common exploding sound? Blood in the streets, homes, craters left from depleted uranium shells. A child emerges from the rubble and sees a U.S. tank roll past where he once lived, and put another depleted uranium shell through his nieghbors home, killing them. Just who do you think that child thinks is the enemy? Sure he/she probably thought Saddam was bad and that we were comming to free them. And now he/she sees this. Is this how we promote freedom and democracy in the world? by bombing the hell out of cities and killing civillians? That child will grow up someday and will remember the patch on the soldiers arms who were told to kill and to destroy in our name. It's not the soldiers fault, they only do what they are told to do. The fault lies with people who support those who send them to do their bidding in the name of profit.

I saw the wierdest thing the other day, a peace sign on the back of a mini van that also had a yellow daisy with a W 04 sticker on it. I wonder how she would feel if her son or daughter would be sent up next and died for.......o there are so many reasons why we are there, just pick one, they are false. But who cares? someone called into this radio show Alan Colmes and when he asked her about WMD and the lie that it was if it was worth 1026 American Soldiers lives....and her reply was so what.

To many of us have attitudes this way. So what. I got my tax return, to hell with the rest of you. Your lazy, that's why you don't have a job. Support the president and support the troops, if you don't, you belong in GITMO you traitor un american. And the list goes on and on.

It makes me sick that so many do not have critical thinking anymore. I heard a classmate just this past wednesday say "Give me a gun, I will shoot me some towel heads" and my reply was, "then why wait, go sign up right now. The Army needs you" and I got no return reply. I then had a teacher say that Kerry was wishy washy (a commercial in Ohio now) she said she was voting for bush because she got 7500 dollars back in a tax return. This woman makes well over 100000 a year, she is not only a teacher but a software programmer who runs her own business on the side. I said to her that that 7500 dollars could have paid for universial health care for some child here in the states who had a illness and how she could just stand there and say so what. I got no reply. Then another chimed in and said well it's different when you have kids, that's why when you get older you will be republican. I said so you don't have a problem sending your flesh and blood to fight and die for nothing. I got no reply.

Somewhere in Iraq right now, a child is going through an emotional crisis that will haunt them for the rest of thier lives. We just referr to them as the collateral damage and the usual so what attitude. Why should that child care for human life if we have not been a good role model in such? it's not just Iraqi Children, it's ours here at home too. A child learns by what a child sees.

2. not to be a stickler, but when you do, you might want to
change "Peach sticker" to "peace sticker"

Otherwise, it's a great story.

3. whoops I just caught that as I reread it
peach sticker?!!?!?! WTF does that mean? lol Thanks for pointing that out to me. I am still a little upset about that and wasn't even paying attention to context or spelling or even grammer. My fingers were going faster than my thoughts.

quickly. I am usually very hesitant to correct ones spelling or grammar (unless they are a freeper, of course).

...and I had to edit for a spelling error!
