Ft. Carson Soldiers Told to Re-Enlist or Face Time in Iraq
GIs claim threat by Army
Soldiers say they were told to re-enlist or face deployment to Iraq

By Dick Foster, Rocky Mountain News
September 16, 2004

COLORADO SPRINGS - Soldiers from a Fort Carson combat unit say they have been issued an ultimatum - re-enlist for three more years or be transferred to other units expected to deploy to Iraq.

Hundreds of soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team were presented with that message and a re-enlistment form in a series of assemblies last Thursday, said two soldiers who spoke on condition of anonymity.

someone is paying attention. Maybe those soldiers will see some justice after this bs.

And in Colorado.. that'll be nine more electoral votes, please. :)

Even with the re-enlistment, the 3rd Brigade Combat Team has an obligation to keep the re-enlisted soldier for 10 months and NOT ONE DAY MORE!!!

So they will get transferred anyways.

Their best option is to call the IG, their Congressman, their Senators and to make as much trouble as possible.

3. Apparently the "Arm Behind The Back" draft is systgemic
I had a friend tell me just the other day that he got a call from his son in the guards. They had a very similar assembly where they were told by their officers that they needed to sign on the dotted line and extend their committment another year or face immediate transfer to Iraq for the rest of their active-duty term. There was a division of the house and those not chosing to sign were shamed and labeled unpatriotic. Out of about 130 soldiers, only 10 stuck to their guns and refused to sign.

My friend offered to try and make a stink for his son, but his son asked him not to. He didn't want to be singled out if his unit got wind of it. Dad is really torn and hoping this gets big news and puts a black eye on the administration.
