Bush - Gore debate recap..
(I didn't write this, but thought it was pretty good.)

Here's a recap of some of Bush's statements during the October 3, 2000 Presidential Debate...

"Now that stands in contrast to my worthy opponent's plan, which will increase the size of government dramatically."

There are 1 MILLION more government workers today than there were in 1999.

----

"People need to know that, over the next 10 years, there's going to be $25 trillion of revenue that comes into our Treasury, and we anticipate spending $21 trillion."

" doesn't want you to know that what he's doing is loading up IOUs for future generations."

Analysts project a $2.3 TRILLION deficit in 10 years.

----

"I've got a plan on Medicare, for example, that's a two- stage plan that says we're going to have immediate help for seniors in what I call 'Immediate Helping Hand,' a $48 billion program."

----

"I believe we ought to give seniors more options ."

Medicare plan prohibits imported prescription drugs

----

"Well, if it's in our vital national interests. And that means whether or not...our territory is threatened, our people could be harmed, whether or not our alliances -- our defense alliances are threatened, whether or not our friends in the Middle East are threatened. That would be a time to seriously consider the use of force. Secondly, whether or not the mission was clear, whether or not it was a clear understanding as to what the mission would be...And finally, whether or not there was an exit strategy."

"I would be very careful about using our troops as nation builders...Some of our troops are not well-equipped. I believe we're overextended in too many places."

""I don't want to try to put our troops in all places at all times. I don't want to be the world's policeman."

Three words: "Operation Iraqi Freedom"

----

"More money is needed, and I'd spend more money. But step one is to make sure we reform the system, to have the system in place that leaves no child behind."

"I believe they've moved that sign, "The buck stops here," from the Oval Office desk..."

Bush has not taken responsibility for a single failure.
