Here's the thing that gets me regarding the CBS debacle...
The media are in a feeding frenzy, often leading their newscasts with CBS's statement today in which they admitted errors in checking the Bush papers for accuracy (if that's the correct term).

Where was this attitude when Colin Powell's testimony to the U.N. was totally debunked regarding Iraq possessing WMDs and aluminum tubes for production of nuclear weapons? Where was the feeding frenzy over Bush's SOTU address? Where was the feeding frenzy from Bush's, Rumsfeld's and Rice's and speeches in which they went nationwide, each assertively stated that they had proof of WMDs in Iraq, painting a graphic picture of mushroom clouds and striking Saddam now before he strikes us?

Why aren't the media being equally dubious about Bush's military records released by the Pentagon last Friday, especially the timing of their release?

When I studied journalism in college, if I displayed the same work ethic and laziness that today's major media reporters have displayed during the past 10 years alone, I wouldn't have made it out of college, much less begun a career in news reporting. But today, this laziness and ass-kissing by what passes as reporters today is standard operating procedure.

That's why I rarely watch network TV news any more.

1. You are one of many having these thoughts
UGH! Exactly our thoughts here this morning when we found out.

Shame on the journalism in this country.

No wonder we believe that they treat * like he's an emperor.

I bow down and beg mercy for daring to question you,oh great one.

Reminds me why we are thinking of Canada again. This country is in denial and a country in this much denial is in serious trouble.

4. what gets me is why people are still shocked by the media at all.....
....they are owned by corporations who don't give a flyin' fuck thru a flamin' hoola hoop about being correct...or fair or balaced...it's as if even *logical* thinkin' progessives wake up in a new world everyday so like the sheeple mentality they profess to loathe....simply amazin' and utterly disgustin' IMO! :nopity:

6. The best analogy is with the Iraq-Niger uranium letters
That was a case of false docs and they were used to justify a war!!! But it never became the issue this CBS flap became.

In fact... I wouldn't put it past Karl Rove to have his fingerprints all over this. He is a clever and deceitful person, capable of just about anything.

8. Well, it's just a dead horse now - and the current crew is good at beating

one. They are just copy-cat folks who glom onto anything they can find. Too many news stations, not enough stories. Well, actually there are lots of stories out there - just watch Lou Dobbs if you are interested in seeing stories you won't see anywhere else. I suppose if anything/anybody was willing to come forward and tell the truth of what happened here, the shit would really hit the fan as all the news sources are now invested in this story. If you think the Bushies are not petrified that there is info out there that they are not aware of, you are not being realistic. (uggh, a triple negative - oh well)
