Richard Lynn and Tatu Vanhanen have written a book called "The U.S. and the Wealth of Nations." In it they break down the average IQ of the United States by state. The seven states with the highest average IQ turn out to be Connecticut at 113, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Hawaii and Maryland at 105. The seven states at the bottom are Mississippi at 85, Utah, Idaho, South Carolina, Wyoming, South Dakota and Oklahoma, the last two both at 90. What I find interesting about these statistics is that the top seven states all went for Gore in 2000, while the bottom seven in IQ all went for Bush.
I draw no conclusions from these facts. Everyone who is interested in them can (and will) put their own spin on them.
