Today Show
What are some other examples of the Today show pushing Right-ish ideas and politicians? Matt Lauer's skewering of Kitty Kelley and Katie's interview w/ Seymour Hersh come to mind, but what are some others? I'm interested in dissecting the show's ideology for an article I'm writing. Thanks.

2. "Navy SEALs rock!"
That's what Katie Couric said during the run-up to the Iraq invasion.

Of course, Michael Moore turned that one back on her when she started to get snippy with him during an interview. And that was after he handed Matt Lauer's ass to him as well.

They're not so much RW as they are pro-corporate. They toe the corporate line behind their smiling faces and inane banter. Personally, I think they're beyond worthless -- they're a bunch of vapid mannequins who like to pretend they're somehow "journalists".

3. You don't need those kinds of examples
GE is NBC's parent. GE is also a defense contractor. GE is a corporation, and like any such multi-national, it's charter is pretty clear-cut...to make money for its shareholders. Period.

Their marketing department says "We Bring Good Things To Life."

But the lawyers and the shareholders say "Make me money."

In fact, though I haven't specifically perused GE's corporate charter, I am relatively certain it is pretty much a no-no for the board to take actions that it knows will harm the shareholders.

Therefore, right from the get-go, if GE allowed it's NBC division to aggressively report on the criminal and anti-constitutional activities of the administration, it could very likely CAUSE HARM to the parent company's defense division, ultimately impacting the share value. Harming the shareholders by placing the company's reputation in a negative light. Any number of things any two-bit corporate lawyer could cough up.

NBC cannot push pro-left ideas if those ideas may harm shareholders. It's in their charter. They are obligated to make money for those shareholders, it's what they are in business to do, NOT to bring good things to life.

Unless by "good things" you are referring to dividend checks.

Fuck the TODAY show. There hasn't been a real "journalist" since Cronkite. Katie and Matt are bobbleheads for The Corporation, nothing more, nothing less...GE is sure to pay them enough so that they fall into the privileged class Bush's policies are geared toward, so they have a natural affinity to protect those that brought them to the party.

That's your story. Good luck Dave! Can't wait to read your article, wherever it may appear.

4. Mention Katie's run-in with Ann Coulter.
Coulter referred to Couric as the "affable Eva Braun of
morning television" and then Coulter actually went on the
Today show.

It was tense, and Katie held her own.
