1. I'm liking what I'm hearing.
Bake sales for body armor can't be emphasized too much.

2. sounding strong...
Attacking Bush and keeping it simple...2 choices: if you're happy with the way things are going just jump up and down and vote for Bush... If not, and you think we can create new jobs etc....

Explaining his "I still would voted for authorization" thing... Saying the "authority" should be given - the President should always have the tools to force the upper hand...

He's fighting back with the talk of "choices"...bringing up all the differences between them... He's so much more focused now - this is great!!

Now talking about prison scandal...saying it comes from the top and that it needs to go further...

About Vietnam...saying he didn't mean to impune the soldiers about atrocities and was talking about the policies...he's sorry if people are still upset but he stands by his right to fight against the war...

8. Doesn't John Kerry just sound GREAT?
He comes across as so smart, a man who is comfortable in his skin, who is easy to talk to, no pretenses, with a nice sense of humor. So SO terrific.

I'm a little pissed that you made me watch Imus, though ;-) - yesterday I was flipping channels and heard him say he thought it was a good idea that prisoners in Iraq were tortured.

Dear lord, what is wrong with our country?

I digress...Kerry was WONDERFUL and I hope Imus does have Edwards on soon!

11. IMUS grates on my nerves too.
I knew Kerry was going to be on and had no choice but to watch. :puke: He's such an asshole. Every other day, he waffles about who he'll vote for. One day it's maybe Bush, the next it's maybe Kerry. The man is an idiot. He actually said he LIKED Zell Miller's speech at the RNC..."It was so powerful! HE's a REAL patriot." %$#@^&*&^%$ IMUS need to get a clue.

9. The war was a MISTAKE.
I wonder how Edwards and Kerry reconcile that? Edwards, in his campaign, kept on saying the war was NOT a mistake and still believed we did the right thing. Has Edwards changed his poistion on that? If not, how can Kerry say it IS a mistake and Edwards say is isn't a mistake. What does Edwards say about it now?

13. Kerry & Edwards have to seperate removing Hussein (+)from the war(-)
Removing Hussein from power was the right thing to do, but the war Bush started was the wrong way to do it, and has made the Iraqis lives much worse, and frankly, their future is looking pretty bleak. Civil wars and havens for terrorists. On top of the fact we are bogged down in a swamp, yet again.

I agree Democrats have been stumbling over how to seperate the two.

This is the time to explain it clearly, as Kerry just did, let the freepers do their flip flop routine, and keep hammering away at Bush's failures.

Edwards will back up Kerry 100%. In fact, I am looking forward to hearing Edwards talk about this some more.

Being in a position as a senator with misleading stories, it gets tricky when you are lied to and remember Kerry has been in political life a long time, tends to believe member after member like Powell and Rummy and VP's and so called Presidents when they go before the UN and say . "We need to enact the power if need be to remove Saddam because he is aiming nukes at us." this is the argument. I would have voted for saying, "well I don't want my kids and others to die,go to war as a last resort. " That is what Kerry is sayin...then saying clearly and simply today, I was mislead into war. It was not the way it was told and not the way to carry out the resolution. " He didn't build the coalition to win the peace. Unfortunately Joe Sixpack thinks Kill em all and let God sort em out and most of the time Joe Six pack has the mentality of Bush and never served one day in a war.

I think Kerry's message is very clear. I do. I think it is hard to
convey to the american people because America has been dumbed down by pundits and Bush. Some of The smartest people I know are right here on DU and we don't have to sort it out that much. You take Reality TV people ....they don't care unless they got a kid overthere. Nah, I think he has good stand on who he is. My God Joe Sixpack doesn't even realize he is out of money looking inside his wallet. He thinks he is one of the top 1 percent. He feels like he has a gun, and a Bible and a TV, he has a life. What a wierd way to look at the world. Doesn't matter that he doesn't have healthcare, enough food on the table, good working conditions, a job, a good education or works longer for less, no clean air or water. None of that matters. The bible, the gun and the Tv. Now don't take that gun,
or Bible or cut off the Cable because I assure you Joe Sixpack is gonna vote the opposite if you do that ! We are one sick country in dire need of a patriotic transfusion and that doesn't mean buying a flag made in China run up a pole made in India.
Imus gives me the creeps, but he has a lot of listeners.

...and it is DEVESTATING!

Kerry just gave one of the strongest indictments of the Bush administration I have ever heard. He has wrapped it all up and he's putting on the bows.

This is the guy I was hoping for.

Go get 'em John!

14. I encourage people to email Imus
and ask him to release a transcript - it was great.

Imus is now doing his usual. He is saying McCain is "outraged" about the way the troops are treated and the wrong decisions of the Pentagon (I've never seen McCain "outraged") and questions why McCain is supporting Bush.

16. DAMN!
When I tuned in, all I got was the tag-end of the interview with Lou Dobbs.

Didn't know Kerry was scheduled to be on; sounded like he kicked ass!

17. As a long time IMUS listener I can tell you he is trying to help Kerry,
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 08:32 AM by hansolsen
not hurt him. This is as good as it gets with IMUS. He amkes fun of everyone.

I thought Kerry did just Okay, but the campaign needs to listen to the IMUS crew reaction. Drop the nuance, and say something simple, new, bold and confrontational about Iraq.

Kerry just can't bring himself to say the war was a mistake. He always qualifies it with, "in the way we got in, etc etc etc. It is enough to gag a yak.

If Imus ever turns on Kerry, which is still possible, Kerry fans will look back on this interview as the good old days. Don can be devastating if he wants to be.

And I would say Imus is worth 1% in the general election. That is, he personally, can swing that many voters one way or the other just by how he leans. His audience is huge and loyal.
