Ads for Hannity's show on Air America Radio
I get AAR through Sirius satellite radio and they are always advertising other Sirius channels during the commercial breaks.

Lately they (Sirius) have been advertising Sean Hannity's program on AAR -- some guy blathering on about being addicted to Hannity and then someone says how it's OK to be addicted to Hannity's show, blah, blah, blah.

What would possess anyone to run an ad for Hannity on AAR? Would anyone listening to AAR tune in to Hannity?

1. I've heard an AAR ads on faux news on Sirius before
I don't know if there is any logic put to ad placement on Sirius stations or if its just random.

2. i noticed that too. i wonder if hannity's show is really taking a big
hit from AAR and they feel the need to advertise/push his show to compensate for the tremendous success of AAR.

i think that they (RWingers) are REALLY worried about their once cushy base and numbers. We didn't just come on the scene. We STORMED onto the scene. No matter how much the deny it, they are obviously hurting.

3. Which satelite plays colmes on the AAR station?
I guess I could spend the 2 seconds to look it up. Oh, its XM. Well now I guess I can't buy either one. Its quite possible that Siruis just sells blocks of time that air all over the network or whatever its called. Like on TV they buy time on a station, but not neccessarily a certain show. Or it is possible FOX is stupid.

6. Here in Florida
The Florida Education Association runs ads puffing up the image of their union during a lot of right wing talk shows (Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Todd Schnitt).

8. It's Part Of AAR's Affiliation Agreement
They have to let Sirius or XM insert several minutes of their own announcements and commercials.

Sounds like AAR's making some headway...methinks that's a special buy by Hannity's people...definitely different than the "this space not sold" rotation of generic network promos, Sears siding and PSAs.

The could be either a buy from Hannity's distributor (Premier who is owned by Cheap Channel who all but controls XM) or maybe someone in the corporate suite has a nasty sense of humor.

Anyway, AAR has no say on who is sold these minutes...and since Satellite really has no regulations (like cable), who says they couldn't put NAMBLA or Al-Queda recruitment spots in those open slots. After all the shit I've seen the Rove Machine do in recent weeks, nothing's beyond conceiving.

12. It always makes me laugh hearing the ad.....
that says listening to Sean Hannity isn't a problem. Obviously AAR has no say about what ads are played on Sirius. I just think it's an incredible waste of money on their part. Who is going to listen to Sean when they are listening to AAR? Hey, let them spend their ad dollars trying to preach to me, better me than someone who can't think for themselves and will start following that idiot.
