NY Freepers are going to CBS HQ to protest Dan Rather
or "Baghdad Dan", as they like to call him.

I can't believe I wandered on that site, after swearing to never visit. I am going to take a shower now. :puke:

1. I'd love to see those losers in the street.

CBS is like a block from where a work. It would be ironic if their protest got violent.

2. Its the most depressing place in the world. The toilet of humanity.
But we can't ignore them - they are the future of Bush's America if we don't defeat them at the polls in November. Go see the great but horrifying movie, "Brazil", that is our country if he succeeds.

4. What are they going to protest?
Are they protesting that Rather got the story right even apparently without real documents?

The story was right:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-09-14-memos-forgeries_x.htm

The former secretary to a Texas Air National Guard officer who purportedly wrote memos critical of President Bush's pilot service said Tuesday that the documents are forgeries but they appear to reflect memos her boss wrote and kept in a locked desk drawer.

Marian Carr Knox told the Dallas Morning News after viewing copies of the disputed memos, "These are not real," and that "the information in here was correct, but it was picked up from the real ones." She declined to be interviewed late Tuesday, but her son, Pat Carr, confirmed her comments.

(Snip)

Another former Texas National Guard officer, Richard Via, also said that the documents were fakes but that their content reflected questions about Bush that were discussed at the time in the hangar at Ellington Air Force Base, where he had a desk next to Killian's.

Via said he and others he worked with "remember the physical, and him going to Alabama was an issue." He said Killian "made notes and put them in his files about things like that."

6. They're really into 'big'...
aren't they?

"Also, tell them about the letters to the editors you may write, and how big your email address book is. Even if you don't do any of these things, the threats may make them think."

This is what slips into the gene pool when the lifeguard takes a coffee break.

9. The right wing are such hard core hypocrites.
Four years ago, on a Usenet group, right after the Bush "inaugural" when the NY Times neglected to mention in its coverage that 100,000 protestors were lining Pennsylvania Avenue, I suggested it was time to start mass protests at media like the Times to get them to start doing their constitutional duty and report more than "the official story." Immediately, I got pelted with snide posts from wingers who laughed at the idea of protesting companies for allegedly exercising their first Amendment rights. (Never mind that they were suggesting the NY Times' First Amendment rights were somehow more protected than angry members of its readership.)

We could tell these frauds over in freeperland that if they don't like what Dan Rather says, fuck off and watch something else. Let Dan's freedom "reign!" ;)

14. Once upon a time, I was banned from freerepublic.com
....but did i ever get my revenge.
I was innocent, I didnt know that it was a republican site, and I asked some questions about Bush that I was looking for answers to, but instead of answering me, they ip banned me. However, I later wrote to the monitor that banned me and asked him how republicans were supporting free speech when they didnt allow people to ask questions...or even try to answer them.
I got a
"FUCK OFF YOU FUCKING TROLL! NO ONE CARES ABOUT FREE SPEECH!"
as an answer.

15. they are protesting him because of his speech...
that is so weird.

I mean, an immoral act is one think, and "cheney yourself" is another, but protesting because someone reports facts? Too weird.

I'm guessing 6? And considering the average turnout at their "national" rallies, that's probably highballing it.

19. Successful Freeper actions usually involve less that 10 people, including
the children they drag along. Then they brag about how well it went!

Let's hope CBS security drags them out by their mullets.

20. "Baghdad Dan" ??
I'm a little confused... Now that Saddam is gone, isn't Iraq free and safe? Isn't Iraq our friend and ally? That's what Bush promised...

So, why would a nickname like "Baghdad Dan" be bad now, since Iraq is as free and peaceful as Bush promised. And, especially since the mission was accomplished well over a year ago?

21. This underscores the importance of us emailing, phoning CBS
to express our appreciation for some truth in broadcasting.

It's clear the RW will go to any length to pressure the censorship of truth. We must counteract those efforts.

Email, write, call........ let them know!

No wonder we're taking a beating in this country... sigh...

We're going to have to learn to do the daily chores. Hopefully, *before* we completely lose the country.....

27. This is the other side of the "forgery" attacks. The game is being played
When the truth about this gang gets out they attack the messenger. Here on DU we saw their "rapid response team" of disinfo operatives in frantic action, with dual goals of diverting the discussion from the facts about chimpy and getting truth seekers to back away from the CBS story. Now the attack on CBS directly moves from using their agents in the media to calling out the loser squads from FR. Hmmm, Rove must be getting desperate if he has to call out the porta-a-potty brigades.

28. Boy, they are sick!
But what horrifies me is how many Duer's will actually sprout that drivel. This is why I get angry. We want freedom of the press and for the press to search for truth. Dan Rather does it, and gets creamed by both sides. Dan should get the Pulitzer Prize. That would frost them!
