Korea: Let me see if I have this right...
The pResident*s national security advisor is talking to Wolf Blitzer.

Blitzer: "Was that a nuclear device that was detonated in North Korea?"
Rice: "WE JUST DON'T KNOW. It could be a forest fire. It could be any number of things. We just don't know."

WE JUST DON'T KNOW? The most powerful nation on the globe? The nation that spends billions of its taxpayers' hard earned money on an alphabet soup of intelligence agencies? The nation that blankets the skies with spy satellites? The same nation that monitors a global network of seismographs? Of radioactivity monitoring stations?

We just don't effing KNOW?
BULLSH*T!

Dear Mr. pResident and whoever happens to be running our intelligence agencies on Sunday Mornings:
I want my money back.
Thank you.
A Dissatisfied Taxpayer

1. You know that they know
and that Korea did, in fact, test a device. It's just that they don't want a scare. The especially don't want people going, "hey there are REAL WMDs there and we are wasting our time in Iraq?!?! WTF"

13. Thanks AndyP.
And, speaking of Robert Novak,...your sig is cool...did you hear him Saturday night on Capital Gang when he said he thinks CBS should release their source for the TANG documents?

When Al Hunt called him on that and asked it he now thinks journalists should release their sources, Novak sputtered something like "Oh, no, no....just in this one case"! ....WHAT????? WHY oh WHY does ANYONE still take this hypocritical windbag seriously? WHY oh WHY does CNN continue to allow this poor excuse for a human being on the air?

2. The same nation that knew
Saddam had WMD, yellowcake, aluminum tubes for making nuclear warheads, the U.S. could have a mushroom cloud overhead within 45 minutes, mobile weapons labs, anthrax, serin nerve agents and botulinum....but we don't know if it's a Nuclear device?

That is just ridiculous. Of course they know it was. They just can't admit it because it would be politically STUPID to do so. After all, Saddam was a much bigger threat, don't you think? :eyes:

3. This is a MAJOR dem talking point
while we wasted our time, treasure, lives and chance to do something about this... either politically or militarily.... the real threat blossomed into a real mushroom cloud. Hey Condi... right idea... wrong country.

JK needs to put this right up their backsides.... they need to be help accountable for this.

15. This is the only explanation
She can't be that stupid (I mean, she isn't Bush, after all), the U.S. would have known in a minute if a nuclear test had happened. So, probably it's fear-mongering.

5. Translation: "If any other country breaks ranks and reports this, then...
yeah, it was a nuclear test, otherwise, we'll get back to you AFTER we steal the election."

7. seize the moment
use the north korea threat as a talking point against the misadministration. be sure to point out how if the N. koreans want to get us all they have to do is sell that enriched uranium to osama and gang who will then hit us with it. use the fear card against them for once.

May 2002: "I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane
and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another and slam it into the Pentagon.
That they would try to use an airplane as a missile? A hijacked airplane as a missile?" C.Rice

i just can't misunderestimate the depth of their ignorance.

10. They Just Trotted Out Powell! NO NUKE He Says!
Powell Says N. Korea Blast Not Nuclear

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=516&ncid=716&e=2&u=/ap/20040912/ap_on_re_as/nkorea_explosion

Why is it that they always trot out Powell or Condi w/ the biggest lies.

This confirms it for me, it was a nuke.

Silly me for wasting my childhood reading Popular Science futuristic articles about remote sensing. Silly me for witnessing these crazy ideas come to fruit and be deployed. Silly me for reading articles about other countries setting off devices and the United States reporting the type and size within twenty-four hours. Silly me.

There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again.

I think it's possible that it wasn't a nuke, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was, either.

19. I was laughing at Colin Powell's reaction yesterday:
"Well, we don't know what it was, but it was NOT anything nuclear. No Sir! No nuclear stuff. No. Nope. No way" (paraphrased, of course)

20. Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn't
China, Russia or South Korea measure the amount of radiation released into the atmosphere?

When Chernobyl happened it was clear that radioactive fallout spread throughout the continent and even Europe.
