2000 proved money and media can buy elections. What will 2004 prove?
- The 2000 election showed the world that politicians and CEOs give only lip service to democracy and freedom when power, money and their careers are at stake.

- What will this election bring? Although, in our hearts we hope for a change for the better, it looks as if November will simply be a continuation of 2000. GOP-controlled media. Rigged polls and disenfranchised voters. Ballots 'lost' or simply not counted due to 'malfunction' of the system. The 'losing' side trying to make the best of it.

- Bush* has the smugness and arrogance of someone who knows they can't lose because the game is rigged in their favor. That the media will never expose his dark side. That the opposition is still playing at democracy while he is fighting for a military dictatorship.

- Hopefully...November will shock the left into action when they finally realize that the game is rigged against them and that the only way to 'win' is to hold truth above power.

- Have a great Sunday. Hope for the best but expect the worst.

1. It will prove if the United States is sane or not.
Kerry can fix whatever Bush did, we just need to gain some ground in the house, and win the senate.

However, if Bush wins, then Iraq will continue to be a quagmire, North Korea will probably detonate a nuke by 2008, and most of Europe will think we are insane.

3. Sanity is relative...
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 08:19 AM by Q
...if most of the people are 'insane'. I've never seen America is such a pitful state...where half of the country seems willing to vote for someone shown to be unfit for office. I'm not saying this as a Democrat...but as an American concerned for our collective future.

- It seems the Bushies knew from history that a 'new pearl harbor' was all they needed to guarantee they could stay in complete power for at least eight years. We should admit to ourselves that war trumps all other issues...and that supporting an unjust, illegal war has put the Democrats in a precarious position.

- I'm not so sure that presidents have the power to make the kinds of changes you're talking about. This country is run by corporations and their lobbyists...not the presidents and congress that are merely their (willing) slaves.

6. We now have a "figurehead" government, just like Britain.
Except that they recognize theirs for what it is, and we still cherish our delusion.

9. But those suffering from delusion...
...generally don't know they're deusional. Most Americans still don't know they were robbed of their democracy in 2000. They still suffer from the 'delusion' that the best man will win and that everything will be okay if we just go to the polls and vote.

- They don't seem to realize that our votes can be manipulated so that the less popular and qualified person 'wins'.

14. It's time to start blaming voters for the choices they make.
The millions of people who voted for Bush in 2000 and put our country into crisis were not "stupid". They were partisan and vengeful. Why not ask people who they voted for? If Bush is re-elected, I'm going to ask everybody I know who they voted for. Then, when the shit hits the fan, I'll tell the Bush voters that they have to assume the responsibility.

5. The American people haven't changed...
...it's that their voices and votes have been taken away from them. Dissent is practically illegal and the protests of millions are ignored by both parties.

- You know things are getting bad when both parties support illegal and unConstitutional acts and pretend nothing is wrong.

4. Kerry beats Bush hardcore.
Believe it because it will be. Kerry will batter Bush a point at a time to defeat. Kerry knows how he can do it. Kerry is no quitter. Kerry will prevail. No other primary opponent could beat Bush.

8. There's no doubt that Kerry would make a better president...
...and that's not even the issue. The underlying issue is that the infrastructure of our government and democracy has been corrupted to its very core. We have...for the first time in history...a 'shadow government' and an ongoing state of national emergency that could change into martial law at any time.

- Kerry won't 'quit'...but does he and the Democrats even realize they're playing in a rigged game? That he could win and still 'lose'?

11. It May Prove
The Democrats picked the wrong man to run. It may also prove that the Democrats have no back bone. It may also prove the DLC wants us to lose. I hope none of this happens, but it is not going so well at the moment.

12. What makes you think things would be different...
...if someone other than Kerry was running? The RWing Smear Machine would go into action against ANY Dem candidate. The corporate media WANTS Bush* to win so they can keep the gravy train running.

- I believe there ARE Dems with 'backbone'...but they don't have a voice in our party. They are mostly the Liberals/Progressives the DLC has striven to drive out of the party.

- Does the DLC want us to lose? Or have they simply joined with the other side to promote a certain agenda?

13. It may prove "twice" returns us to 68, but this time with Assault weapons.
But liberals do not get violent - it is just those far right nuts - called GOP staffers on the hill - that the media told us in 2000 would start a civil war if a recount of Florida was allowed to go forward.

So nothing to worry about.

:-)
