Unbelievable: "Entire Ala. Family Enlists in the Navy" !!
The Whole freeper family signed up....

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/nation/9603170.htm?1c

<snip>
With both of his children enlisted, Kerry was easily sold on joining the Navy Reserves. He will keep running his heating and air-conditioning business while serving one weekend a month and two weeks a year.

His wife, however, was more hesitant. But Chunn said Kerry finally convinced her with a little guilt.

"He said, `Why don't you do this with me? You feel the Navy is good enough for your children and not for you?'" Chunn said, recalling a conversation Kerry had with his wife.

"Once she heard that, she said, `You are right,'" Chunn said with a laugh. "It was really neat."

17. Bull! Give me the news of families being torn apart by actually engaging
in real battle in Iraq or Afghanistan. I can't believe this shit makes the news and that Blitzer is fawning over them like they are heros already while not one media outlet will show the drapped coffing at Dover. Sorry, this news just does not turn me on. In fact, it turns me off.

2. A Pre-Emptive Darwin Award for the Chunn Family!
Other Freepers should follow their lead. At least you have to respect them for their integrity.

3. Why do you think they are freepers?
Generally, freepers are chickenshit cowards so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.

27. Well, if they're from Alabama, they must be freepers, right?
That's the kind of thing that passes for "thinking" around here all too often.

5. You're not helping me feel positive about my fellow Americans.
It's hard to feel positive about this kind of sacrifice, when the military is so completely under the control of political pressure groups, read that FASCISTS.

6. Apparently they think this will be a grand adventure
I know a couple of young people who have enlisted, not for any political reasons, or to "defend the country" but because they think it will be exciting and "neat".

16. As long as they are guaranteed there will be no Naval war to worry about
and they are assured they will not have to set foot in Iraq of Afghanistan...sure they want to sign up. Pardon my puke but this is such a publicity stunt. None of them are signing up for battle anywhere.

22. They'll soon find out there are no "guarantees" with the military
They are running so short of cannon fodder in IraqNam, that I wouldn't be surprised to see navy folks shipped over.

15. Consistent with "We're so fortunate the war to protect our freedom is
happening elsewhere!" I've heard completely "normal" Americans say this thing so often, and they seem completely unaware of how hypocritical and callous this is. "We're so lucky that we can protect our security and freedom by having this war in someone else's country. 'We' are fighting for 'us' and aren't we lucky that the dead civilians aren't ours! and the destruction isn't our land and lives! We're so good we deserve everything, even the sacrifice of innocent lives for our 'values'."

There's such a huge contradiction here, something for nothing, a free lunch. It's shocking! I am ashamed.

20. Yes. I just heard it, "Better to fight the war on terror in 'away games'"
rather than in 'home games.'"

Now, this very thinking is insane to begin with, but add the sick sports analogy into it, and it's *really* disturbing.

23. Most countries turn sailors into infantry if desperate
...Russia and Germany both did for example when they ran out of other actually trained Army.

Sailors come with a uniform and already know how to salute, makes them slightly better than press-ganged militia.

Seeing as we are already using truck drivers as infantry and deploying grandparents to avoid a draft or public panic - it wouldn't be shocking to have the Navy tapped for some surplus deck shoes to take the place of those boots.

Unlike most of those loud-mouthed war-lovers, these people actually put their money where their mouths are!

I do, however, find it curious that they chose to join the Navy, rather than the Army or the Marine Corps. Just today, a caller to the Howie Carr radio show opined that John Kerry wimped out during Vietnam by joining the Navy, which he claimed was "the safest branch of the service."

35. The "cowards joining the Navy during Vietnam" charge was leveled...
against McCain in SC in 2000. Saw several astroturf LTTE claiming this.I wonder who was behind that then and now? Like a dog returning to his vomit...

My response to that bullshit was always "Weren't a large percentage of POWs NAVY pilots? Yeah, that's really staying out of harm's way"

These criminals in the White House are lower than snake shit.

Won't they be surprised when the First Cheerleader provokes the war even more and they have to fight. These are the kind of people who should be fodder.
