Poll question: Are the hurricanes in Florida an act of divine intervention
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 04:13 PM by Bleachers7
and/or payback by God for 2000? There have been running street battles throughout DU about this the last couple days. Some say that God is punishing Florida. Others say that God has nothing to do with it and Democrats are affected too. And some even say it's Mother Nature herself. What say you?

Maybe God has lifted his protective shield from over Florida. Are the gays and lesbians, and "abortionist" stepping out of line down there?

23. That's the first thing I thought
When we here in CA suffer through earthquakes, we always hear the God team of Robertson and Falwell blame us for God's wrath. So why doesn't the same rule apply to tornadoes hitting the Bible Belt or hurricanes in Florida?

Note: I certainly don't believe that and grieve for those suffering through this devastation. My anger is at Robertson and his ilk for blaming people for acts of nature.

OK, I'm more of an Agnostic but one thing is certain : All the Jerry Fartwells out-there are going to blame this on gays or whatever. Damn ! Is this real or is it a bad episode of The Twilight Zone ?

Check here, too: http://www.geocities.com/wizardofwhimsy/

I saved it for my file last year, but I see that this particular picture is no longer available at this site.

9. No
Just no. The people in Florida, or anyone affected, did nothing to bring it on, collectively or as individuals. I hate any implications otherwise.

10. I voted Other. AFAIAC, hurricanes are just a fact of life out there
and a price you pay for living in "paradise".

But, BUT, I still can't help but have that sense of schadenfreude with regard to dildos like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. My attitude is - invoking divine punishment cuts both ways, boys.

Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 04:04 PM by rinsd
These things have/will cause death and destruction and leave many homeless.

Can't wait till the next earthquake or forest fire here in CA so some jackass here can make light of it being punishment for Ahnuld.

Edit: I lumped the poll starter with others and I shouldn't have

18. Science is the answer....
Increased hurricane activity is a direct result of Bush's failure to act on global warming issues. Recently it was announced that the effect of global warming, caused by human activity, will be much worse than previously predicted. By increasing oil production to meet the demands of China and India and promoting fuel inefficient autos in the U.S., the problem is only compounded. Watch for massive flooding problems this winter.

20.  hurricane Charley stole my roof...
same as Bush stole the presidency...!!!!

Charley put thousands out on the streets, and so did bush.
Charley depleted productivity forcing companies to cut workers, and increasing the unemployment rate here. Same as Bush has done nationwide.

Charley signs disastor bills weeks late, forcing people like MEEE into debt. ...well if charley could hold a pen he would've signed late too justlike Bush did!!

Jeb Bush and georgie spent less time in punta gorda, than Kerry did. Where's that in the papers. (eye traveled through our city of punta gorda)... Jeb failed to send the required portables and money for construction forcing three local highschools to share one school. First hs starts at 5:30 am. Last one ends late in the evening.

Charley = Bush; BOTH Are evil :(

about Bush and a wreaking havoc on Floridians as a warning.

Someone needs to tell Neptune and Thor to go do a number on the SCOTUS Five who empanelled the dingbats.
