The Democratic "Willie Horton" Ad for W.rong
You know, if they REALLY wanted to get down and dirty about W.rong's military service and the administration's answer to it that he received an "honorable discharge" they really ought to put up the 2004 version of the Willie Horton ad...

Show clips of W.rong interspersed with clips from the D.C. sniper shootings... Don't actually SAY that W.rong is behind it or has anything to do with it, but at the end of the ad, just put up two shots, a half screen devoted to each.

The one on the left would have smirking W.rong in his military uniform, with the title "Lt. George W. Bush" and the one on the right would be the mug shot of John Allen Mohammed with the title "D.C. Area Sniper" underneath it. Then stamp a big, red, bloody-looking 'HONORABLE DISCHARGE' diagonally across both...

(For those who don't know why I picked the D.C. sniper, turns out he was honorably discharged after being put into the brig in 1985 while in the military.)

1. That would be powerful
I'm going to mess around with Flash and see if I can't piece something like that together for my own amusement.

3. I'm not offended...
Didn't say it was in good taste or was fair play... just said it was like the Willie Horton ads used to smear Dukakis. Which, I think we can all agree, were quite detrimental.

The problem that our party is running into right now is that we are running against a modern-day Hitler who fights dirty. Nothing is too worthless or detrimental for them to throw out there. We are trying to appear above the fray, but we're getting a bit killed by being above all of that.

This election will not be won through fair play or decency, unfortunately. I don't think my idea is in good taste, but it's right there in the mud along with something KKKarl and his Nazi-like group would put out.

discharge?" It proves that just about ANYBODY can get one, and look how some of them turn out...

If some limbot tells you "well, bush got an HONORABLE DISCHARGE!!!" you can then hit back with "well, so did the DC sniper. Remember him?"

In fact, I'd bet more than a few of our most evil miscreants and mass murderers also, at one time, got an honorable discharge.

And by the way, southpaw - WELCOME TO DU!

8. Exactly! Murderers can be "honorably discharged" too is the message...
Thanks for the warm welcome to DU, though I used to post here as 22181. I just lost that account (and by moving, the email address to which the PW would be sent - oops)... Figured it was time for a more creative ID. :)

4. Good try, but there's no direct connection between the two.

7. The ad isn't about proving a direct connection...
It's about pointing out that two different men were "honorably discharged" from military service. The evil in it (and I admit, it's evil, which is why I kind of like the idea) is that no connection between the two is directly stated, it's merely implied. The facts are true that both men were honorably discharged from the military. It's how the facts are presented (in my idea) that are so devastating...

I'm just thinking like the enemy is all. It's not like I'm on the advertising team for Kerry. :)

9. A better one would be
Timothy McVeigh... He got a Honorable Discharge after W's daddy little oil war. Plays in the terror thing too.

12. Oooh another good one, though to be honest...
I live in the DC area and feel that the sniper plays the "terror" card just as well. My husband wouldn't let me get freaking gas in the car. The sniper hit much closer to home for me personally than McVeigh, though admittedly that's just because of geography.

But no mistake about it, John Allen Mohammed is a terrorist.

10. No need. Just stick with the truth.
Just show Bush with Bandar. Then Rumsfeld with Saddam. Then Osama.
