Kitty smells a rat at CNN

Don't mess with Miss Kitty.

You might get scratched.

Scandal impresario Kitty Kelley is suggesting that CNN's Larry King won't let her on his show to promote her upcoming book, "The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty," because he's a toady of the Bush family.

"I realize how important the Bushes are to Larry," Kelley E-mailed me. "He does not want to lose their friendship or offend them in any way. And having me on his show would probably anger the family, because they made their feelings clear from the beginning ... when the former President Bush called my publisher (Doubleday) and said he did not want this book written and would not cooperate in any way. So I certainly understand Larry's refusal to book me." ....

2. The best way to help is to buy the book--now.
Make it a best seller, then they can't ignore it--at least as much as they want. And, to some extent, it will innoculate Ms. Kelley against the criticism the right-wing slime machine is bound to throw at her if she makes a buttload of money.

I hope his show goes to hell. (never liked the tv format, but his radio show is what got me hooked on talk radio)

5. We need to call CNN and call 'em out on this.
1 (404) 827 - 0234, then when you connect, press 8 to bypass the long voice message.

Let 'em know you WANT to see Kitty Kelley on the air, and if she isn't, it's PROOF that CNN is in the lap of the White House and is NOT an OBJECTIVE NEWS PROVIDER.

By the way, phone traffic is evidently EXTREMELY heavy - I've been on hold for the whole time I've been writing this post.

6. Well, Larry isn't the only show in town
Someone else will pick her up, I'm sure, especially if viewers demand it.
Just remember that when it comes to ratings, the press has no scruples.

10. They'll probably find some scruples if the book is a bestseller.

They'll HAVE to. Can't ignore numbers like that. Michael Moore's sure made a lot of noise, and bushco certainly has had its vermin out there trying to smack him upside the head. As many of us as possible should make sure we buy the book. Buy two and give one to a friend - or donate one to your local library, if you can.

7. I still believe the pundits don't have much power
It's still the owners, producers, news heads that
control the content.

8. CNN*
is state-run media. The only Kelley coverage will be negative on this junta propaganda machine. Swift boats were on for two weeks straight, Kelley's book will be disparaged quickly and dumped within a day or two.

*CNN latest ratings, daytime, adults 18-54: ZERO

13. I think we have to redirect our ire
to those behind the scenes...

News heads, producers, owners. Make their lives
miserable until they spend money on revealing
the truth. That's all we want.

11. Larry is Bush's pal. Do you remember the 2000 campaign debates?
Bush was trying to duck out of doing them all together. You may remember that at one point he had his people suggest it would be good to have a debate on the Larry King Show.

Was that stupid, or WHAT? My God! Larry looks out for him. He feels safe with Larry.

Not surprising to hear he owns Larry and Larry won't let Kitty Kelley on his show.

12. i get so frustrated at discussions on this kind of topic.
first off- why does anyone care what the talking heads on tv say? this is a BOOK. one can read it, or not, but watching a person talk about it on tv makes no sense to me. i mean, reading isn't that hard is it?

secondly- of course he's a toady. they all are when commanded to be, and occasionally they're allowed to say something contrary just to keep the pretense of "balance" alive in the minds of those that still watch. if you think anything you see on tv isn't filtered, you've not been paying attention!

finally- i guess this is why i'm so depressed all the time. 000s of sources in print, video and the internet detailing everything one needs to know about bush (as most of us here can attest to) and yet larry king has the power in one show to discredit all of it? do they really have that much power, and if so, why do people here continue to give it to them, by paying for cable, watching the shows, buying the products and talking about tv instead of real news?

i just don't get it.

15. Well, most people in most parts of the country...
don't get their news from books, or even newspapers, anymore. They get it from TV and talk radio. Therefore, it's important to monitor how the broadcast media is presenting information (more like "soundbites"), and keep protesting the way they coddle our special needs pResident.
