1. And think of how $200 B or $300 B could be spent

to remove us from oil dependency.

$50 Billion over 5 years in materials research, alternate energy
production, hydrogen economy. $250 B to help roll it out over the
10 years following. 10 to 15 years to no more oil imports, no
middle east wars, no support of terrorism (the "drug" that the US
injects daily which feeds the terrorists is available on almost
every street corner, and we buy it by the gallon).

Oh well... er OIL WELL.

2. did you get to see the NY Times ad?
someone took out a full page, front section Sunday Times ad, detailing what could have been done with the money spent so far in Iraq.

4. Yeah, it was posted here.

And those would have been much better use of the money than
the war in Iraq... but, as I recall, it didn't really address
the root problem (why the terrorists hate us... and it's not
for our "freedoms"). If we quit playing politics in the ME
(CIA, Shah of Iran, GW1, etc etc) all in an attempt to keep
friendly governments in power (to the detriment of their people),
the terrorists would have a much harder time with recruits.
If we didn't need their oil...
