15. It's a cable channel started by Robert Redford
to showcase independent film. Parent company, Viacom. From their website:
http://www.viacom.com/prodbyunit1.tin?ixBusUnit=29

Under the creative direction of Robert Redford, Sundance Channel brings television viewers daring and engaging feature films, shorts, documentaries, world cinema and animation, shown uncut and with no commercials. Through its original programs, Sundance Channel connects viewers with filmmakers, the creative process, and the world of independent film. Launched in 1996, Sundance Channel is a venture of Robert Redford, Showtime Networks Inc., and Universal Studios. Sundance Channel operates independently of the non-profit Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival, but shares the overall Sundance mission of supporting independent artists and providing them with wider opportunities to present their work to audiences.

With monthly filmfests including "She Said Cinema," "Arte Latino," "Sonic Cinema," "Representing Soul," and "Inside Out: Sundance Film Festival," Sundance Channel features a variety of current films and points of view. Original programs include Conversations in World Cinema, Anatomy of a Scene, and 24 Frame News.

He said he hoped people would watch the Daily Show and then tune into Al as they're a perfect combo.

Now we can pretend that TOUGH CROWD doesn't even exist!

35. I'll add what I posted in the Lounge thread since it seems everyone
is posting in this thread.

Also, since Sundance doesn't have ads (Well, except for the ads for Sundance, which surprised me), they'll be able to fit in more than an hour of Franken's show, considering just how many frigging comercials the radio show has each day. They'll also probably cut out the news at the top of the hour. All in all, I bet they'll be able to squeeze in almost two hours worth of radio show in an hour slot.

I can't wait to see the stripper for Bush. That segment had me LMAO!

ADS ON SUNDANCE? Now that sucks even though it's Sundance ads.

I will say this, it looks like I might just watch this instead of listening to the afternoon show. They're pretty much showing all the guests, or at least that's what it looked like from the line-up.

I think they're gain a lot of cutting time by leaving out calls and ads. We miss a guest or two, but I need some extra time in the afternoon and I'd be taping this anyway.

The fillers like the Lester "ad" and the Oy Oy Oy intro were unexpected. I like!

It's nice to be able to see pictures of some of the guests to be able to place a face to their voice.

41. It looks like they're able to squeeze most of the good parts in the show
into an hour by cutting out the radio ads, news updates and calls. As I said in the above post, I think I'm going to watch this at night instead of listening during the day.

I don't really mind missing the calls, especially Al's conservative friend. I usually turn it off when he calls in as he drives me up the wall. I hear conservatives all the time, I don't want to hear them on OUR station, thank you very much. I wish Al and Janeane would drop those calls from their shows. I listened to them a few times, but after hearing them never give ground call after call it became clear that it was just a waste of airtime.

Smart and political is better than artifical (as in body parts), self-absorbed, and vapid.

I started a thread on this very topic in the Lounge and then someone had to go and post pictures of Bush supporters acting slutty.

Although I listen to Franken on AAR while I'm at work, there are lots of times I can't really concentrate, or have to leave my desk, etc. This makes sure I get the facts!
