997 US deaths in Iraq - 11 yesterday
I am watching live report from Bagdad on CNNI. Walter Rogers gave some "staggering" as he said figures from official Army reports:

997 marines and soldiers killed in Iraq.

11 killed yesterday alone.

In August - 52 deaths

In July - 39 deaths

In June - 32 deaths

1. Are you part of the black ribbon/armband group?
a couple weeks ago, someone in here said there was going to be a rally someplace for the 1000th soldier's death..PLUS it was suggested a black armband or ribbon wearing campaign for this horrible occassion.

I'm in. :grr::cry:

2. Wonder if the media will play up the 1000th death
but naw, I really don't wonder. It will be too close to 9/11 and we all know that reporting the news, especially if it is bad, is unpatriotic.

Didn't the admin say things would be safer after they caught Saddam, who was "behind the insurgency"? Someone, I remember, took some flack for saying otherwise. What's his name again? Howard something. :)

3. No, not Saddams capture...
...the handover, that's the arbitrary date after which we'll be safer...oh, wait...um...yeah, we've been given so many dates after which it'll "all be safer", we should be at Code Green Terror Periwinkle by now...
