CBS: yeah and BOO! | the 'missing year' is mentioned
in the worst timeslot for network evening news (CBS in the NYC market does a 6pm show rather than the standard 6:30pm. easly to miss!)

it could not be the worst weekend. even if it was ONLY Labor Day, the corporate media overkill on hurricane coverage and Clinton, this was the worst time for the story to make any splash.

still, they said it. the records that would prove his Alabama service are 'missing' or, maybe, they were never kept at all.

how convient! /churchlady

records are all well and good. why are you asking for a single WITNESS? just ONE.

of course GHWB's wastral son's records are 'missing'
of course GHWB's wastral son was 'missing' from his service
missing from his physical.
GHWB's wastral son was disappeared from Houston...

so a yeah! for CBS for mentioning the story.

a big BOO! for the timing and for moving immediately to discredited polls from Time and Newsweek.

let's see what they let Barnes say on Wednesday...

1. I disagree
They reported the missing records, but there is not enough information. They also reported about a "spy" in the Pentagon, Abu Gabu(sic), Siebel Edmunds, Greig Tilmann, Barnes story, Viacom owns Commedy Channel, (Daily Show), HBO, (Bill Maher), and are being fined for the Jackson superbowl incident

I am sorry they are standing up and taking the heat, and the administration does not like it

Name any other network that broke a story like the ones above

Do not curse the darkness because you only have one candle

4. i constantly champion CBS here
and agree that no other network evening news has been doing as well.

the timing of this disappointed me. and should you. as should the framing of the story with blatantly biased pro-bush reporting (the bogus polls) showing Kerry... "in trouble"

I don't curse CBS any more than I curse the Kerry campaign, but both are capable of disappointments...

2. Barnes on Wednesday?
I'm getting SOOOOO confused. I thought it was supposed to be tonight. Then someone else posted that Barnes would be on NEXT Sunday. But you're saying it's this coming Wednesday. And I can't find ANYTHING on the CBS News website that mentions Barnes at all.

So I'm kinda wondering if it's really gonna happen at all. :-(

9. Josh Marshall says it's next Sunday
(September 05, 2004 -- 08:45 PM EDT // link // print)

A number of readers have written in to ask why the interview with Ben Barnes did not appear this evening on 60 Minutes.

I've done no new reporting on this (now heard anything new on this) since I wrote about it last Thursday. But my understand was always that the interview was slate to run on Sunday, September 12th. And I assume that's still the case.

But I'd check it out Wednesday, too, so as to not miss it. I think Sunday would be better, as it would get a larger audience.

They are the ones who broke Abu Ghraib...

They are the ones who broke the Pentagon spy story...

They are the ones who take a moment each night to remember a soldier who has died in this war...

And they have David Letterman.

So there ya go.

Edited for spelling.
