986 and counting....
http://icasualties.org/oif/

Yet barely a whisper in our Rove-whipped media...

Maybe time to e-mail the cable news networks, to prepare the ground a bit, so they don't try to hurriedly gloss it over when it hits 1000.

1. When 1000 is reached, we should use the DU media blaster to ...
..."blast" it everywhere.

2. As much as I want Bush out of the office,
I find it unsettling how some people can't wait for the 1,000 mark to hit. Almost like they can't wait to celebrate it.

3. No, just at our wit's end
What will it take for the media to start telling it like it is about this unmitigated disaster of a presidency? We've squandered the federal Treasury, uncounted tens of thousands of lives at home and abroad in a wild goose chase to put more money in the coffers of the President's capitalist cronies, and people are dying at home for want of health care, decent jobs, a clean environment, and this administration's ineptness in foreign and domestic policy.

Will it take a nice, round number like 1,000 for Sam, Cokie, Dan, Peter, Tom and the rest to finally say, Enough! Well, we're within 2% of officially militarily dead in Iraq. I can't do a damn thing about it. Can you? Noting the milestone isn't a "can't wait to celebrate it" kind of thing; it's just another measure of the horrible criminality of the administration.

4. True. And they are all republicans. They love Bu$h, and his war.
But they will not fight for Bu$h, they send others to die for him instead.

5. I'm not waiting to celebrate. But they voluneteered for this army.
Many of those guys would hate us here at Du. They are professional soldiers and many of them care only about being able to kill more of them than us. Especially the Marines and the elite forces. They're all primarily right-wing, nationalistic neo-nazis.

I don't want them to die...but I'm not worried about their numbers. What about the 100s of thousands of Iraqi children that their King Kong has sent them to destroy? A people who don't want the US their and are only hating us more by the day.

They should stand up to the fucking chimp and say we won't fight this illegal war. John Kerry knew the score and got out of Vietnam. Then he ratted on the racists in the midst who only wanted kill and maim brown and yellow skinned people!

Sure let's keep the count going for the yokuls in the midwest and their bible thumping hate. That's who this number is for. when enough bodies come home to there communities...they'll care about the bodies coming home in Faluja, Najaf, Sadr City, Tikreet, etc. Why are we not fighting in the streets over this fucking crusade to ban Islam - a religion of peace!???

If this rant makes you feel uncomfortable...sorry. No! I'm not sorry...goto FreeRepublic if you don't like it!!!

7. No, a lot of them are National Guard, etc.
And I met a lot of the regular "professional" soldier types in Korea last fall in 2004. Even then they were like, "we've done our job, what the f*ck are we still doing in Iraq. Somebody screwed up."

Go to the following website to see pictures of those who are dying. See if you still can feel comfortable.

John Kerry "ratted" on someone?
Why would I go to FreeRepublic if I don't like your post?

8. I don't think that's a fair assessment. Many or most of us DUers predicte
predicted the very debacle (as did millions of people all over the world.) We said it was idiotic to send our young people into what was clearly a prelude to quagmire and tried to prevent it.

I'm a bit ambivalent on the widely-held claim that using nukes on Hiroshima (where I have visited) and Nagasaki were "justified" because it "probably" saved more lives than it took - that may or may not be true but of course we have no way to know for sure.

But the chickenhawk wingnuts are saying "the sacrifice is worth it."
I'm not prepared to disagree with that if what it's "worth" is restoring some integrity and honesty to the White House. And I hate saying it.
