The terrorists are winning.
To "win" is to get what one wants. So, what do Islamist terrorists want?

Like Hitler, Osama has made no secret of what he wants. He wants a general war of Islam against the West. He believes that this will unite the Muslim world under extremist government and that, with nuclear weapons, the Islamic empire will be a world power.

How is he doing since 9-11?

Afghanistan: check. The American invasion of Afghanistan was necessary, but should have been done with far more force, so that the war there would be over by now. Instead, it was half-done, and lingers on as a theater of war between the West and Islamic extremism.

Iraq: check. This elective war elminated a secularist opponent of Islamism (a bad man, to be sure, but an enemy of Islamism) and created a new theater of war between Islam and the West.

Chechnya: Check. Russia is now fully engaged against the New Islamic Caliphate.

What new theater may we expect next? Turkey?

1. Osama also got another wish granted.
The pullout of all our troops from Saudi Arabia. Bushie was quite willing to give in to that demand.

2. Iran, Syria, North Korea? No. Bush looks at ease and not threat level
Its funny that Bush claims he will go after any nation that harbors and aids terrorists yet he chooses Iraq only because he thought it would be a cakewalk, provide easy oil, and give him political points in America because of his outstanding victory. Real states that sponsor terrorism were a little too difficult. We have taught rogue states that acquiring nuclear weapons are a good way to prevent the US from attacking.

Bush claims to fight for freedom for people who live under repressive leaders but think how many of the those he has to choose from. However, most of those don't other lucrative oil contracts for Bush/Cheney cronies.

3. Don't know which theater will be next, but
as long as we have people like Gen. Boykin running around dissing Islam Osama doesn't have to do much to convince many that the US is ready for another crusade against Islam.

I suspect that any Muslim country with a moderate secular government would be in danger of being under attack by terrorists.

4. It's not about Bush,
although his blundering into Iraq and puling out of Saudi have certainly been gifts to Osama.

It's about Where We Stand. And where we stand is looking into bigger trouble -- and needing a leader with the smarts and flexibility to deal with it.

5. Islamic extremists hate abortion and homosexuality
The Rethuglicans have ceded to them in their party platform.

Why do Republicans hate America?

Why do they want the terr'ists to win?
