TESTING: "Americans for Gay Marriage"
NOTE: This is a controversial topic. It is not intended to offend anyone. I am looking for two things: a) input on whether this argument with its "outrage message" sounds reasonable, and b) (assuming it meets with some approval) how to get the talking points in wider circulation.

Meme Creation (hoped for): Anti-Gay Marriage = Anti-Small Business and Anti-Personal Responsibility

= = = = =

Americans for Gay Marriage
Supporting Small Businesses & Financially Responsible Behavior

KEY POINT: Americans for Gay Marriage are pro-small business, pro responsible behavior, and PRO-AMERICA. Everyone else is an anti-American communist traitor. :)

Americans for Gay Marriage are INFURIATED by the anti-small business bias condoned by opponents of so called "Gay Marriage." This is an enormous opportunity to increase small business profit margins, and it is being DENIED to small businesses and their employees all over America! This is an OUTRAGE!

According to Modern Bride Magazine (http://www.modernbride.com/advertisewithus/)

"The engaged life stage is among the most compelling sales opportunities for your company. Over a 16 month time period, they decide how to spend $120 billion:
= total spending on wedding and ceremony:$50 billion annually
= purchases for new life together (insurance, automotive, financial services, etc):$70 billion annually"

It is obvious to anyone with sense that an opportunity to increase sales by 5% WITHOUT ANY INCREASED EXPENDITURES would be a gold mine for the small business community. Furthermore, due to current pent up demand, Americans for Gay Marriage expect the first several years of market share to be well above projected future revenues, with an increased profit potential of 20-25% of current monies.

In other words, Americans for Gay Marriage want access to a market worth

Wedding & Ceremony: $10-12.5 BILLION annually for the next five years
New Life Together: $14-16.5 BILLION annually for the next five years
5 Year Total: $120 -- $135 BILLION Potential Revenue

Businesses affected include, but are not limited to: jewelers, florists, photographers, caterers, videographers, catering professionals, reception facilities, bridal stores, tuxedo shops, and travel agencies, to name only a few. These figures do NOT include the additional spending on behalf of the GUESTS attending a wedding for everything from showers to event clothing to gifts, which could be the difference between a positive profit margin for retail industry, and a net loss.

In short, Americans for Gay Marriage DEMAND the right to service this lucrative market.

It Is Also a Question of Financially Responsible Behavior!

Gay couples who live together instead of marrying do not incur the same legal obligations as married couples. This means the concept of 'marital debt' does not occur in the event of a death, and irresponsible financial behavior can be covered up by one partner declaring bankruptcy, with no legal access to the financially solvent partner's financial resources.

While it may be in poor taste to say it, the final 'hospital visit issue' is not just about the emotional impact of not being able to see one's spouse; its also about who picks up the final tab. Unmarried couples are not responsible for the medical bills of a deceased partner. This travesty of justice -- two people living together, but then not both being financially liable -- MUST STOP. The businesses of America (including the health care industry) cannot afford to keep writing these losses off when they are so easily preventable.

Providing Services to Parents Creates Jobs.

Americans for Gay Marriage fully support parenthood. Studies show children will always blame their parents for SOMETHING that 'ruins their lives' and this "Whiny Child" defense, while entertaining, is something easily ignored by responsible capitalists (as witnessed by industries including but not limited to alcohol, tobacco and firearm production). We understand the world can be a terrible place for those who were not potty trained correctly, or whose parents were too strict or not strict enough or made them go to church or did not let them go to church or fought all the time or never fought or WHATEVER. We recommend reasonably priced psychotherapists, and for those who really can not cope with the trauma of imperfect parents, a quick trip out of the valley of adolescent angst. In other words, GROW UP!!!

Furthermore, we want to know what opponents of gay marriage have against toy manufacturers. Or the makers of baby supplies. Or any other infant and child related industry currently valued at (ridiculously large sums -- anyone know how much?) which industries and employees of DO NOT APPRECIATE the suggestion that 5% OF THE POPULATION ought NOT to be contributing to corporate coffers. Are opponents of gay marriage TRYING to put hard working Americans out of jobs?

We Don't Want to Know How Good "It" Is Or Isn't.

As shocking as this may be for the sexually obsessed, Americans for Gay Marriage are not interested in the bedchamber antics of ANY of our neighbors unless they are Brad Pitt or some other bona fide movie star whose behavior will help sell supermarket tabloids. If our neighbors want to 'get it on' with toaster ovens, Americans for Gay Marriage do not care as long as participants pay their taxes and mow their lawns. We will even be happy to provide custom made wedding gowns for said toaster ovens at a reasonable cost, plus markup. We are CAPITALISTS -- not sex police -- and we do not want to hear about "it". In fact, many of our members would prefer Americans watch television for the market share value created instead of 'doing it', but we are flexible in this area, and do not require strict conformity on this particular point.

We Reject Extremist Scare Tactics.

As ridiculous as it may seem, Americans for Gay Marriage must address two issues raised by our communist sympathizing opponents: pedophilia and abomination.

Pedophiles are disgusting degenerate creatures who engage in sexual behavior with minors. Minors, as everyone knows, are unable to enter into legal contracts of any kind, including consensual sex. Americans for Gay Marriage do not confuse pedophiles, who should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, with adults who can and should enter into legal and financially lucrative contracts with other adults.

The term "abomination" as used in reference to certain sex acts is a common misunderstanding of Old Testament literature. In reading the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah, many uninformed people make the assumption the cities were destroyed due to their sexual practices, when in reality they were destroyed for the 'wicked behavior' of BREAKING THE ANCIENT LAWS OF HOSPITALITY. The same issue is repeated in Judges 19 with 'the incident at Gibeah' involving a (female) concubine, resulting in a civil war. The widespread teaching of the misinterpretation can be easily understood when put into the context of a desert culture where denying hospitality and/or water was a matter of life and death, as opposed to the modern day sexually obsessed 'Hollywood' stereotypes prevalent in our media.

Followers of the Christian faith will note that none of the gospels of Jesus (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) condemns homosexuality; only Paul mentions it, and his controversial stands on such topics as slavery and martyrdom do not render his opinion as credible as that of Jesus. Therefore, Americans for Gay Marriage dismiss the term "abomination" as a propaganda tool of anti-American communist traitors.

IN SUMMARY

Americans for Gay Marriage demands all opposition to the lucrative opportunities created by opponents of Gay Marriage cease and desist from anti-small business, anti-fiscally responsible behavior, and join with all hardworking Americans for Gay Marriage in loosening federal and state restrictions on accessing this profitable market, while closing the loophole that allows same-sex partners to avoid being responsible for commonly incurred 'marital' debt.

4. Well done
you just made me not want to marry my partner anymore. ;-)

I'd post that at some freeper type sights and see what type of response you get.

Looks like you already got some attention from one right here. That's the test for sure. When they crawl out of the woodwork you've got something.

6. Thank you!
Sorry about the "not wanting to marry your partner" bit, though. I'm hoping if we quit talking about abstractions like "rights" and talk about "responsibilities" and "profit" we can make this a bigger issue -- forget this underdog nonsense -- I want the 95% non-gay community (which includes me, by the way) FIGHTING for this!!! :)

By the way, did you see what the freeper said before he got deleted? Just curious. As Teresa Heinz Kerry said when she gave a recent speech, "I AM NOT AFRAID!!!"
