Jon Stewart was brutal tonight
Really showed the convention for what it is... a 9/11 whorehouse.

5. No way! John Stewart needs to stay right where he is
He's the only "news" show a lot of people watch. And if he was working for the campaign, he'd have to quit. But you are right that they need to hire somebody

Why doesn't Kerry hire a few of Jon's writers?

16. Jon Stewart has great writers, but he's also Jon Stewart
Jon Stewart has the best delivery of any talk/news show host ever. He's in a pantheon with Jack Paar, Steve Allen, and Johnny Carson--all people with a rare combination of fierce intelligence, natural wit, and an engaging personality.

Even if the Dems had some of TDS's writers, I just don't see them able to pull the zingers off in quite the same way.

8. His monologue on Rudy was hysterical...played how many times he said
"Sept. 11th"...

He slammed them all....it was funny too having their "roving" political correspondent standing outside Madison Square Gardens with all you could see are police, police baracades and Police "Buses" which he referred to (while talking about how "safe" the Republicans have all made us) as the "Freedom" buses....

9. Thanks. Jon is the ONLY reason I can think of to get cable
and CSPAN too. Otherwise, I really can't think of a good reason to have cable or even have a t.v.

27. Does the International Channel carry Al-Jazeera ?
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 10:11 AM by Dark_Leftist
When I was in Columbus, OH a hotel there had that channel and showed broadcasts from Al-Jazeera.

Also, I love Aqua Teen Hunger Force as well as Sealab 2021, Family Guy, Futurama, Case Closed, and most of Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.

I love BBC America for Coupling (the original) and Little Britain. Any fans of Little Britain ?

7. I feel so left out...
I found some of JS's humor to be mildly amusing, but a lot just too impenetrably dense (as in massive) to be particularly funny. I do profess to be a very serious consumer of things political, however I also spent a number of years doing standup. Ah, so envious of those of such agile mind. And yes, I quit enjoying Mad Magazine, for the most part, almost half a century ago. Oh, well, guess I'll just have to go write some religious jokes, or dumb repub jokes, or sumpin'. Unrequieted...

12. Don't get bummed, he's one of the top talents now
Comparing yourself to Jon Stewart in current events standup would be like comparing yourself to Michael Phelps in swimming or Gary Kasparov in chess. Why beat yourself up? Fortunately for the vast overwhelming majority of us, there is plenty of room in the world for lesser talents.

The Nazi army marching in the streets was HILARIOUS! "Nothing to see here folks. Move along." LOL! What a hoot! PRICELESS message!

Just about the best I've ever seen him. I was SLEEPING on the couch, and somehow what he said was so striking that I woke UP.

28. This is the single best show on TV. Used to be "The Simpsons".
Much as I love 'em still, they passed their peak some time ago and are pretty inconsistent now, lost some of their better writers like Conan O'Brien.

Stewart just has IT. Not only is the guy smart and completely up on events, he is damn funny and good natured while he's doing it. Genius editing on the video montages.

The deadpan delivery of the supporting players is awesome too.

I think I'm converting my wife over to always watching this rather than the usual "whatever's on the Animal Channel at the time".
