Denver's version of Air America Radio, KKZN 760
Kind of sucks if you ask me.. But I guess it's better than nothing. Why does everyone think Phil Hendrie is a Liberal? And why is there no Malloy? Looks like I'll be keeping my Sirius receiver.

Schedule:

Mondays
Mid-1am Best of Randi Rhodes
1-7am Best of Air America
7-10am Morning Sedition
10am-1pm The Al Franken Show (Live)
1-4pm The Ed Schultz Show (Live)
4-8pm The Randi Rhodes Show (Live)
8-11pm Phil Hendrie (Live)
11pm-Mid The Majority Report

Tuesday-Fridays
Mid-2am The Majority Report
2-5am The O’Franken Factor Replay
5-7am The Randi Rhodes Show Replay
7-10am Morning Sedition
10am-1pm The Al Franken Show (Live)
1-4pm The Ed Schultz Show (Live)
4-8pm The Randi Rhodes Show (Live)
8-11pm Phil Hendrie (Live)
11pm-Mid The Majority Report

1. I agree with you
I just posted in an earlier thread and also in the Colorado forum. Could they have chopoped up the lineup any better? Monday is different from the rest of the week and Mike Malloy is out. Ed Schultz turns me off completely. A Randi replay from 5 to 7 a.m.? This schedule is nutty.

Randi usually comments on things happening that day and often in the moment. So, chopping her show up is like putting it through a Salad Shooter. And leaving Malloy out is treating Denver and Boulder like children. I'm so grateful for streaming audio. And will be pricing Sirius satellite today. Nuts to "replays" and parsed out programming.

I just took another look at the schedule for Tuesday - Friday. It says that Randi will be live 4-8. They need to get their schedule straightened out on the web site. Randi goes off at 6 p.m.

3. I was under the impression that AAR
was not supposed to be syndicated. It's not surprising that Clear channel syndicated the crap out of the schedule. Like I said, it's better than nothing, but I wont be listening unless I'm stuck somewhere without my Sirius.

2. Hendrie is a right winger with a weird performance art schtick.
He acts out weirdos to get people who don't understand his gimmick to call in and be all pissed off.

He good at perfoming the con but hardly progressive.

4. I heard his thing once while driving
and it was really the stupidest thing I'd every heard. It wasn't funny at all and was stale after 30 seconds.

5. His generic "dumb woman" character
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 11:18 AM by tridim
is probably the most annoying thing I've ever heard in my life. It's a terrible show and has exactly nothing to do with progressive politics.

I just sent a comment to the programming director saying I won't be listening until they adopt the live AAR schedule. Everyone else should do the same.

Edit: Programming director feedback is here: http://www.760thezone.com at the bottom of the page.

7. He is rightwing
I don't like 99.9% of this show, but I happened to be listening to him one night that was the funniest 2 hours of radio I ever heard. His character was a gay trucker country music "expert". He was listing his top 100 greatest country music singers of all time. He had Linda Ronstadt and Billy Ray Cyurus as #1 and #2. Johnny Cash was #86. People were just loosing it on the air with this guy. It seemed like every trucker and southerner was calling up. They started off calm, but when he said Johnny Cash was #86 and Loretta Lynn was #77 (or something like that) they just lost it.

Anyway, Phil did seem to take a right turn since 9/11. Randi uses some of his sound bites during her show too.

6. Oh! Now I remember him!
He was on really late at night. I caught him during the middle of the night and was turned off by it. It's pretty obvious what he's up to and gets old immediately. That sort of programming during the day is of no value to me. I can't see how it fits into the lineup. Maybe he's got a contract that needs to be fulfilled.

The lineup as it's set up doesn't do much to promote listenership since it isn't consistent. I'm going to stick with streaming audio and also will get Sirius for the mobility. Will also let Clear Channel know of my plan, not that it will do any good.
