Help! I Need Proof!
My husband and my membership to Sam's Club expired and I don't want to renew because I said Walmart (Sam's parent) gives to Republicans and I'd rather join Costco. But Costco doesn't take Visa so he doesn't want to join.

Anyway, I said being socially responsible is more important than convenience and he asked for proof that Wal-Mart gives to the G.O.P.

Can anyone help me with articles and reputable links why it is better (politically speaking) to join Costco? He'll want news, facts, not just online chat forums.

1. It's all in the labor....
If Democrats support Unions and Republicans don't...well we all know where WalMart stands on the issue.

http://www.dsausa.org/lowwage/walmart/2004/challenge.html

Recently Wal-Mart decided that remaining union-free is a political issue, becoming 2003's number one corporate contributor to candidates, 85 percent of them Republicans. Most corporations, realizing that both Democrats and Republicans respond to business interests, give almost equally to the two parties. But Wal-Mart operates on the premise that while Democrats owe something to labor, Republicans don't--and therefore, if its donations can purchase GOP dominance, they are well spent. Wal-Mart, especially as it moves into urban areas and into union-friendly regions like California, is strategically trying to buy as many politicians and NLRB appointments as it can.

2. I seem to remember a while back...
someone from the WSJ was complaining that COSTCO was paying its employees too much and messing up the labor market.

5. Yikes
guess I can't go to Home Depot either. I hate them anyway 'cos their service sucks.

I like Target, that's really disappointing.
