8. Can someone summarize what happens?
I don't have sound on my PC at work, but I can view the ad.

10. From memory..
There's not much, if any, conversation until the end. The police ask something like what's the problem. They respond with something like, "There's no problem. We're here to vote!" :bounce:

13. The guy on the cell phone at the beginning
says, "What? Get everybody together. It ain't goin' down like this."

Then there's music but no dialogue until the end:

Polling officer: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What's the problem?
Guy at head of crowd of disgruntled urban African-American voters: There's no problem. We're here to VOTE.

(percussive sound effect accompanying everyone raising their registration cards above their heads)

It's a great ad and I hope it makes a few people choke on their morning latte.

It reminds me of something from a few years ago...my sister was working for an outfit called Pseudo.com that was going to be the first all-Internet TV network. Before they went belly up in a tres embarrassing way, my sister produced a lot of their political 'programming.' She went out with a cameraman to cover a protest in NYC after the Amadu Diallo shooting. I was watching all these young African-American men walking by holding something up, and I couldn't quite see because my connection was crappy, and then all of a sudden I realized: it was their wallets. You remember, Amadu Diallo was shot 41 times because the cops allegedly thought he was reaching for a weapon, when in fact he was reaching for his wallet.

I doubt this ad is intentionally echoing that symbolism, but the echo makes it more powerful for me: they're holding up something that isn't a weapon, but which the white men on the other side of the confrontation *think* is a weapon, one so dangerous that they will stop at nothing to disarm the people holding it.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

9. Bob Herbert was on "Unfiltered" this morning talking about...
the attempts to suppress the black vote in Florida. If enough news about this fascist bull shit makes it onto the airwaves, I imagine that this ad would actually be a prophecy. If am so filled by rage by this news and I am not even in the targetted group.

12. Really gets a point across. Actual people have been written out
of the voting process knowing they would likely vote for Democrats.

This ad brings out the thought that people are becoming aware and awakened and are in movement now, I think.

Hope the whole country feels this way. It's so important.
