I sure wish these rightwingnut *ithches would just STOP stalking me!!!
They're grown women with kids. On a stitching message board of all places, lol! I was on the board for years, then along came bush the uniter not divider and his bullshit invasion of Iraq.

On this board we had a Just Chat forum, and a lot of us were discussing the situ. This was before the invasion, November 2002.

I DARED to post my actual own opinions. And they've been stalking me ever since. My hubby is an active duty soldier just recently back from Iraq. 14 months of living thru that, every knock on the door and every footstep maing my heart pound wondering if this was the knock or footstep that would crumble my life...

And NOW I have these nasty mean rotten little *itches, these "good Christians", the ones that said I was an unpatriotic anti-American c-word that should be "drug" through the streets until dead, and they're gathering up my personal info, posted on the board for all to see.

I think it's time to take the hard copies I printed off and trot down to see JAG.

WTF is WRONG with people???!!! THIS is why the world HATES YOU, America.

Oh and of course they're also having a great time mocking Kerry's wounds and medals. LOVE that SUPPORTING THE TROOPS shit.

Rant over. Ya know, I do believe I give up on this country. It isn't just bush; get rid of him and we still have the nasty little worms. This country sure isn't the one I used to know and I sure don't like this one.

1. There have always been people like that, and they're still around
There were a few of them who stalked Bill Clinton in Arkansas and in the White House, with all kinds of cr*p stories.

There's Richard Mellon Scaife (the right wing-nut) who's been stalking Teresa Heinz, using his Pittsburgh newspaper, for many years.

"Hate" is their name. "Hatriots" is their genus/species.

16. The problem is, they are now being taken seriously
Anywhere else in the world, *ucks like that would be laughed at. Yet our media and our mainstream culture takes these morons seriously.

And I think you should report them to JAG. People like this tend to be brave until confronted.

3. OHMIGOD That is my hot button!
I can't tell you how many "friends" have called me a traitor, unpatriotic, America hater, etc.

Send them this jewel from Kerry's convention speech:

“And tonight, we have an important message for those who question the patriotism of Americans who offer a better direction for our country. Before wrapping themselves in the flag and shutting their eyes and ears to the truth, they should remember what America is really all about. They should remember the great idea of freedom for which so many have given their lives. Our purpose now is to reclaim democracy itself. We are here to affirm that when Americans stand up and speak their minds and say America can do better, that is not a challenge to patriotism; it is the heart and soul of patriotism.

You see that flag up there. We call her Old Glory. The stars and stripes forever. I fought under that flag, as did so many of you here and all across our country. That flag flew from the gun turret right behind my head. It was shot through and through and tattered, but it never ceased to wave in the wind. It draped the caskets of men I served with and friends I grew up with. For us, that flag is the most powerful symbol of who we are and what we believe in. Our strength. Our diversity. Our love of country. All that makes America both great and good.

That flag doesn't belong to any president. It doesn't belong to any ideology and it doesn't belong to any political party. It belongs to all the American people.”

I can't read that enough, it's balm for my soul.

(Military lawyers, part of the Navy I believe)

The FBI can help you out there too, since I believe there is a federal regulation against internet stalking.

Sick it to 'em!

"Support our troops" indeed.

10. We had several people like this on a couple of boards
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 02:23 PM by depakote_kid
I help out with that support people with bipolar disorder and parents of kids with special needs. It's truly a disturbing thing, to see these folks turn on those who are trying to help them with thier lives. We had to ban a slew of them from the site, and yet they kept coming back under new names- sometimes going to the trouble of using friend's computers or public libraries to get around our procedures. Unbelievable.

I think that it comes from the proliferation of right wing hate radio and television- and I think you're correct, it's become ingrained over the past 10 years, and I'm to the point where I just don't want to live in the US anymore.

14. rush
Thanks guys, at last I stopped crying enough I can see the keyboard now, lol!

I'm just not used to that kind of behaviour and I'm totally incapable of understanding it.

Here's one poster's sig line, she's the 'nicest' of the bunch, so to speak; mother of 3 kids, religious, loves her cross stitching, etc;

Tolerance is the virtue of a man without convictions.
- G.K. Chesterton

Even on drugs, Rush is right. Appeasement will kill us all.

How does she think Jesus would approve of that??? I just don't get it at all. :(

15. There are people like this everywhere.
It's not even exclusively a political thing. When I was in college, some fellow students somehow acquired my social security number and posted both it and the college grades I'd received (using the number to access them) on a public forum. They then spent the remainder of the year harrassing me in various forms, from shoving things under my door to airhorns at 3am before exams (I should note these people lived in my hall).

That said, I think the Republican mindset is much more conducive to that sort of group-hate behavior. I don't want to be simplistic about it, but it's a selfish political mindset, as opposed to the fundamental philanthropy of more progressive ways of thinking.

11. How horrible
They posted your personal info? Hit the ISP and webmaster, particularly the ISP if you can't get any help from the webmaster.

And take heart, we are majority. I don't believe the polls that say we're in a dead heat. I believe we'll sweep this bunch out on the a**es.

I'm sorry you are being subjected to that *hug*

12. You need to do something other than nothing ...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/frompost/nov98/email01.htm

Last year, a Northern Virginia couple found themselves on the receiving end of several forms of harassment when they banned a Florida man from their online chat room on professional wrestling. First, the man, Emmett Gulley, of West Melbourne, kept trying to get back on to the chat room, posting insulting and threatening messages before they could throw him off. Then, he branched out.

"My husband has a Web page on the Net, and it has a guest book, and he started signing it, saying he was going to come after us and kill us," said the woman, 38, who asked not to be identified because authorities think Gulley never learned the Fredericksburg area couple's real names. "We tried calling the police, and they were clueless. It went on and on, and finally he started threatening my children."

Gulley also e-mailed them profanity-laced audio files containing more threats and telephoned and e-mailed threats to several other members of the chat room, according to court papers. He pleaded guilty two weeks ago to transmitting threats in interstate commerce and faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced in U.S. District Court in Orlando in January. His lawyer declined to comment.

The chat room couple got results, they said, because they decided to call the FBI, which took their problem seriously. Special Agent John Mesisca said his Washington-based squad will get involved when the threats are interstate and make explicit reference to doing bodily harm. The Washington Field Office, which covers the District and Northern Virginia, opens about six e-mail threat cases each month, he said.

Most victims have a harder time getting help from law enforcement, online advocacy groups say.

"Usually, state and local law enforcement will ... throw their hands up in the air unless you can show them off-line harassment," said Parry Aftab, executive director of Cyber Angels, the online offshoot of the Guardian Angels.
