2. No
I respect that he is doing his best to defeat *. He never was running for himself but for all of us and he shows that by campaigning for Kerry.

I respect Dean for similar reasons. Both Clark and Dean are doing what they can for all of us.

3. What's wrong with "begging" for the DNC?
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 12:45 PM by chiburb
Besides, during the primaries all I heard was "Is he REALLY a Democrat"? Seems like he's proving it more each day.

On edit: If he were begging for the DLC, that might be different.

7. Hi, Jack.
Every day I have those thoughts of..."if only", but there's not a damn thing I can do about it now. All I can do is pray and hope that Wes Clark is a part of the Kerry administration.

I will say... that even though we would be fighting the repukes about some OTHER issue that they would have dug up on Clark had he been the nominee, they certainly wouldn't be questioning his 30 year Military record.

I miss him. :(

Did you see my post? Wes will be on Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer between 12:00 and 2:00 ET on CNN. :hi:

I wouldn't call him that, but he is more of a citizen soldier at this point....

it does bother me, just because I still think he was a once in a generation leader. But it is so important to defeat Bush that I don't dwell on it. If you need a picker upper read Michael Moores latest letter to Bush. There's a thread here

12. The General is doing his part.
Every campaign involves a certain amount of fund raising and pressing of flesh. Wes Clark is doing what he can to advance Kerry in this race and I respect hell out of him for doing it. It takes a lot of personal fortitude and courage to pick up your socks and work for the guy you lost to in a primary. Trust me--I've done it personally.

We all saw the General as our best candidate--and it has been tough to make the jump to another person. The General has been, yet again, and excellent leader for us. He's set a perfect example of how to hang onto that idea that change is necessary yet support the party's choice...

14. He's out working hard...
As in Washington for Patty Murray and Alaska for Tony Knowles...

Here's his schedule from the e-mail I got from WesPAC.

<snip>
First, this Saturday, August 28th, General Clark will appear with John Kerry at a rally in Tacoma, WA.

Then on Sunday, General Clark will be appearing on CNN’s “Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer” between noon and 2pm ET.

And on Monday, General Clark will travel to North Carolina to campaign with John Edwards in this key Southern state.

Workin hard - he said a while ago he was going to be campaigning with Daschle - come to South Dakota, General!

Cleland did a great job with the real dirty work. Clark back on Wolf is great, because he's the serious policy analyst, just before the RNC Convention.

23. I don't see it that way at all.
I think that he's doing everything he can to help get the Bushies out of power. That's what this has always been about for him, not his own personal political ambitions. It makes me feel more proud than ever that I chose to support him.

I still feel a deep sense of loss knowing that he won't be on the ticket when I go to vote. I will always have pangs when I think about what might have been, but then, I have a tendency to become kind of fixated.

I just hope that, whatever he does, he will have some kind of role in helping this nation to move foreward, and will be involved in some way in public life.

I'm very glad that he appears to be really happy with what he's doing right now.

26. Me too....
Would have made Kerry much stronger in perception. But that's why the Republicans knocked him out as soon as was possible (during the primaries) and why another person who will not be named got all of the media attention.

These Republican goons know how to manipulate the hell out of things!

But that's alright, that's ok. The last thing I want to be able to do is say "I told you so"....because if I'm able to say that, it would mean that we lost the race....and I ain't even taking my thoughts anywhere near that one!

But I do believe that the DNC screwed this one up big time....along with Kerry saying knowing what he knows now, he would have done the same in RE the IWR. But it's hard to tell a bunch of white men who think they know everything anything. After November 2nd, it's time to redecorate the Democratic party!

Wes is still out there fighting for our country. Campaigning for him has to be one of my best memories. The Draft days were glorious and full of hope and his continued presence in the electoral process still inspires me to keep on working to help make things better.

Enjoy the memories and be glad for Wes Clark.

This is my first post!

I supported Edwards in the primary, but I'm a huge Clark supporter!

In my opinion, Clark and Dean should be the principal surrogates after Kerry and Edwards. These 4 brought a lot of new people in the process, and still have passionate supporters.

Clark is the man, and it should be clear(er) that he's one of our main guys!

31. The only thing that disappoints me...
...is that when he weighs in on matters now, cynics can marginalize him as just another partisan talking head instead of actually listening to what he actually has to say.

Just look what happened after Bush's redeploy stunt. Clark was first out of the blocks to condemn it, and yet his critique got passing notice, if any at all, in the national media.

I mean, think about that - the former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO has reservations about the redeployment of our European troops. That should've been a major point of discussion.

But it wasn't.

Ah, well. It was an inevitable consequence of him getting into the game.

But now that he's in it, I'm glad he's on our side :hi:

When Kerry is in the White House I'm sure he will have a prominent position in his administration. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the General.

Yes he was my choice for the nominee, and no, he didn't get it. That doesn't make me think any less of him, or make me depressed. Have faith. The General will come out swinging in the Kerry administration.

but maybe that's just because he was my first choice so I still want to see him out in the public eye. I know a lot of enlisted don't have much fondness for generals, but when the General stands up and tells the truth I think even the most surly of former E4's gets it.
