IGNORE THE POLLS. They are intended to get us depressed and
make us feel like we are failing. NOBODY HAS EVER POLLED ME OR ANYONE I KNOW. How about you? These polls are so incredibly shaky, they often poll regions of the country they know are partisan, and are just weapons used by BOTH sides to psychologically harm the other side. THEY DO NOT TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT WHO WILL VOTE ON VOTING DAY...

For those of you depressed about L.A. TIMES POLL, just remember that the Bush people are masters at manipulating truth - what makes you think they don't have their fingers in ANY polling technique?

I have yet to be called for a poll. Seems all my Democrat family and friends have been ignored, too. Doesn't that tell you something?

Also, some polls are done via internet, which means large groups of certain types of voters can register and flood the poll. THIS IS NOT AN ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF VOTING TRENDS, just an indicator of who has lots of time on their hands to sit around and register for polls. I work and care for my son. I DON'T HAVE THAT LUXURY, DO YOU?

STOP LETTING ROVE AND HIS GOONS SCARE US INTO THINKING WE ARE FAILING. WE WILL FAIL IF WE BACK DOWN.

This election is the real war!

I will do everything I can to make it a Kerry win.

3. I agree. They want enough people to
get depressed enough they say "oh, well, what's the use? Bush is going to win, so I might as well stay home." Let's not fall for that. I haven't been polled either. And no one who has only a cell phone has been polled and there are a lot out there. Also, the people who don't pick up on numbers they don't recognize also don't participate in the polls.

7. I agree
The best way to end depression is to go to your local Democratic Party headquarters, pick up som eKerry brochures, and go door knocking.

4. NO I haven't been polled either.
I was thinking about the annenberg veterans poll...it is credited on the home site to one woman who developed it. I'm sure she has a point of view, everyone does. And then there is push-polling, and how do they choose the region they ask questions in. There isn't any part of the paid media that is trustworthy.

I wish DU would make a rule...no posting polls.

5. The biggest fault of polls
they don't get people who are at work, people who hang up on tele marketers.
Kerry's poll numbers are extraordinary for a candidate running against an incumbent. All the CW points to TROUBLE for Bushler.

6. I recall polls going into the 2000 election
favoring Bush.

Who unambiguously won the popular vote? Who would've won electorally if the fascists hadn't stolen Florida?

8. It's all about spin control and repubs have mastered their craft.
What stats you see are artificial and manipulated by the RWers. They never let up. What really counts is what happens in the voting booth. And I know GWB will be voted out of office come November.

9. They're trying to make it look CLOSE
That's the bottom line. If they can get the avAm's mind set on the idea that this is a statistical dead heat, then they can put the wheels in motion in a hundred small ways for the theft. A little voter purge here, a bit of intimidation there, some tweaking of the touch screen software and voila... Bush JUST BARELY squeaks out a "win."

Problem is, they're going to have to do a shitload of dirty tricks to pull this off. I'd be shocked if the monkey has even 40% of the popular vote locked up at this point.
