The Bushes as Pilots
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 03:14 AM by lnmike
Have either of the George Bushes maintained any kind of pilot's license since leaving the >ahem< service? I never noticed.

1. I don't think so but I heard a rumor . . .
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 03:31 AM by pa28
that W once tried to pilot a friend's Cessna and left the runway with the airplane's nose pointed in a jet-like attitude and nearly killed himself and the passenger. Sorry, no source but I believe it.

2. Neither has.
This is opposed to John Kerry, who has a commercial certificate with multiengine endorsement--I think he could legally fly Air Force One, and he'll be the first president who could. (Or do you need an Air Transport Pilot certificate to fly that type? I know you need one to fly for hire, but we're not hiring him to fly airplanes, we're hiring him to repair the damage caused by George Bush.)

3. I believe that you need a special rating

to pilot almost any jumbo jet, especially a 747. I've been
told (and have "flown" one in a NASA simulator) that it's unlike
any other big jet in the world, especially when landing. (Since
I never successfully "landed" it, I believe that)

7. You could get a 747 type rating on a Private pilot's license, theoreticall
but it would be very rare. Kerry's ticket has a multiengine rating but that's good only for planes under 18,500 lb and propeller-driven. Jets and large planes each have their own type rating.

4. They must be dedicated to the idea of flight
because they're both intent on trying to drive this nation off a cliff.
