Mari333: Can we do something for them?

I don't know if anyone on DU knows Mari333 in "real life"---I thought perhaps one of the people involved in military family or veteran issues. I'm asking because I'm wondering if we should do something as friends of hers. I don't know what but perhaps if someone knows more about her (and can facilitate this) that perhaps flowers to the funeral or even a fundraising effort to help the family with what have to be crippling expenses with the funeral and Michael coming home.

I've been off-line since last night so I might be missing it if something more than the condolence thread is being done but I thought maybe it was useful to suggest it and see what everyone thinks. I would like to give a tangible symbol of our regard for her and her family.

I live in Michigan, but I don't know them personaly. Neither have I seen anything in the local press. Michigan is a big place, so she could be hours from here. I am in the detroit metro area and would like to do something for them if we can.

others will see this. I think a couple of people do know her beyond her DU persona and I can see that so many of us want to do something. Let's hope that others come together on this.

One thing to consider........ in her post last night, Mari asked everyone to "be kind to each other". It seems to me that would be a very good tribute to her...... to find ways of making DU a gentler and kinder place, in Mari's name.

I'm sure that would mean a lot to her.

5. condolences to Mari333..I've followed her DU career closely..it

has been good to hear from a mother closely connected to Iraq..how sad for to go through this trajedy..God look after her husband and keep the rest of her family safe.
