14. I seriously doubt a Baptist would give a shit what the Pope said :)
They'd probably say that the Pope condemning Bush was proof positive that Bush was ordained by God :). The Baptists aren't too keen on the Pope.

10. I usually go through my scenario
Of using biblical quotation that proves that fundamentalist christianity is the religion of the anti-christ predicted in the bible, and that televangelism is the temple of the false prophet also mentioned in revelations, and that one of the televangelists himself is the false prophet prophesied in New Testement, leading to George W. Bush being the anti-Christ.

The Anti-Christ is the person who STARTS the wars in the Middle East that lead to Armegedddon, so it is easy to go on from that point.

It is even more fun to watch them squirm when you prove that only Catholicism is the correct Christianity, as in order for Protestantism to work, Protestants had to remove books from the Bible(the Apocrypha) and that the very last words in Revelations discuss that not one word or book can be removed from the Bible and that anyone who does is on the side of the ant-Christ.

It is very easy to make the point that Bush himself is the anti-Christ by comparing the events initiated by Bush, and comparing them to the events that the anti-Christ is supposed to initiate in the New Testement.

Who started out trying to christianize me by sating that he used to be a catholic but now his is a christian. Within minutes I had him trying to ruun from my apartment in terror, as I was preaching back, showed him quotes from Martin Luther where he said that he absolutely had no scriptural authority for his breaking off from the Catholic Church, or indeed for anything regarding the Prostestant Reformation,\.

It is a good waty to get rid of them.Out proselytising them.

18. Again, I didn't read your post before I posted mine.
Yes, I often use their own scripture against them. But, in this case it's God wants Bush? This is not anywhere in anything even remotely relating to the Bible, Apocrypha or otherwise. However, I think you are on the right path pointing out the anti-Christ prophecies. The only thing that worries me is that they believe it is fate and destiny that this happens, so nothing anyone says will change it.

20. My favorite prayer from the internet....
How do you deal with people like this?

Father, I lift up to you our brother, President Bush, say amen!! I ask that You strengthen Him, that You protect Him and that You keep Your Hand upon Him. I ask that You give Him wisdom, that You give Him courage to do what is right, CODIFY Ten Commandments into law, RETURN prayer to public school, OUTLAW homo "marriage", OUTLAW all abortion for ANY reason and OUTLAW stem cell "research" that only serves to kill Your little ones. I ask that You draw Him deeper into You, that You pour out Your Holy Spirit upon Him, say amen! That You give Him a deeping hunger and thirst for Your Word. I ask that You illuminate His spiritual eyes by the power of Your Holy Spirit. I ask that You give Him grace. I ask that He would be a man worthy of the calling You have placed on His life as the One who will bring us to Your glory. I ask that You bless His marriage, that You make Him a servant as a husband and a father. . I ask that You fill Him with Your Holy Spirit, that You work in Him and through Him and by Him to accomplish Your will in the events of the Middle East You foretold, say amen! I ask that You pour out Your love in His heart, that you keep His eyes on +Jesus+. I ask if it be Your will, that You will allow Him to remain the President of this country for another 4 years. Keep Him from physical danger. Stifle the unpatriotic left who are bent on stopping Your plan. I ask that You use Him as a tool in Your Hand for this country and this world, I ask that You empower Him to speak Your name whenever he has the opportunity. Continue to use the US as a weapon in Your Hand for the protection of Israel. Grant Him the power to carry out His mission to liberate the world and bring us to You. I ask that You continue to make Him a man of prayer. I ask most of all, that You make Him a man who knows and loves You more and more each day. Thank You that You raised Him up for such a time as this. We are RAPTURE ready, come Lord Jesus! We are RAPTURE ready, come Lord Jesus! We are RAPTURE ready, come Lord Jesus! Say amen, say amen!!!!

23. We are not all like that.
I am a minority I assure you. I am a liberal Baptist Deacon from Texas. There are a few of us still out there. I've been a Baptist since I was 5 but have been a Democrat since birth. My parents raised me right. I understand exactly what you are saying but, all Baptist Churches are not like that. The election has not been mentioned from our pulpit other than we should vote. We have a few veterans in my Sunday School class that try to steer the lessons toward Republican politics, but I can usually get them steered back.
Bush is a fool, an ass, and is not a good example of what a Christian should be. We are not all judgmental and narrow minded. I do not see things in simple black and white terms, right or wrong.
I have a nephew who is gay and I back his right to marry who he wants.

I have a question for you. Isn't it supposed to be a sin to predict when Jesus is supposed to return? I found 4 verses where the Bible says He will return as a thief in the night. Is there scripture that specifically says it's a sin?

Didn't see your message until Friday evening. I could not find anyplace that specifically said it was a sin but the 3 verses I found that mentioned the day or hour said do not try to figure it out that you would not be able to do. When I talked to my father about this (he died 2 years ago he was 87) he said that everyone was sure in the early 1920's that it was time. I have to laugh when people across the nation think they can know the time. I believe it was 1984 when a man wrote 84 reasons that would be the year the year. Some people in my town charged up their charge cards and kept their kids out of school. So foolish.

34. Just tell them to read the word of God
Chrisitians are to obey their leaders until they go against the word of God. It is simple. God set up governments and leaders to restrain evil. We should be careful putting everyone into one group, baptist. Many great black and white and mixed baptist church.

I saw a post on here today attacking Christians as stupid and laughing at faith but if you all saw the poor lady on here who had her husband die post, you would see 100's of you talking about God, prayer, faith and I found that interesting.

We should becareful in lumping all people into what we think is wrong.

Let me here from some of the black baptist on here.

37. Sounds like a friend of mine
What you will find is most people that have strong Religious beliefs are in fact quite gullible. Case in point, my fundamentalist Catholic friend. A few years ago, after a long departure from the Catholic faith, he went back into the fold but something strange happened to him on the way back. He became a fanatic. His prior ability to think logically about things, particularly regarding religion, science, current events vanished.

This became so clear to me when I had ranging conservation with him last year that lurched to religion...a subject he brought up I suspect because he knows I'm agnostic. He started saying that anyone that does not believe "Jesus Christ as our savior" will be damned to hell. Now mind you, my friend used to be a something of a rational person before this. Well, when I heard that remark I proceeded to intellectually tear him apart until he was in tears.

I asked him: If that is so, what do you think of all the billions of people that lived and died before Christ? Were they damned to hell because they were unlucky enough to be born before Christ? He didn't know what to say at first and then blurted out, "well, if they believed in Abraham and Judaism then they probably were saved" Then I asked well what about the Billions of people that were born before Abraham, say the ancient Egyptians, were they damned to hell because they believed in a Sun God? He got flustered, teary eyed and said well, that's what the bible says and I believe the bible.

I then asked him, what about the people that are living today but unfortunately, in your view, are born into a Muslim family, a Hindu family? Are they damned to hell because they were not born into a Catholic family? He then came back with this incredibly stupid comment to the effect that they, even being Muslim, should somehow realize that Christianity is the true religion once they heard about it. I then asked him: what happens to a child of a catholic family that tragically dies before they could be baptized, do they go to hell?

The conservation/debate ended shortly after this with him practically sobbing. Oh and this little administered dose of logic and reason had no effect on him. In fact, I believe it made him even more fanatical. He is now a Fundi Nut, that flies off the handle anytime he hears someone make critical remarks about Smirk, Christianity, or the Repugs.

In fact, we were in a tavern last summer having a good time with family and friends went he picked up on an argument being waged at the bar. Some young college kid was very articulately exposing BushCo's environment degradation along the Pacific Northwest with a couple of guys sitting next to him. My friend just went into a rage, started sneering at the guy, and later made a complete fool of himself before my friends by saying he should jumped the guy when he left the bar. I just shook my head. Funny thing is, he didn't have the guts to tell it to the College Guy's face when he was sitting at the bar.
