2. Info from the article:
Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover was arrested on Wednesday outside the Sudan Embassy in Washington during a protest over Sudan's humanitarian crisis.

Glover was speaking to a crowd who were calling for a peacekeeping force to stop violence in western Sudan.

"We want an end to the hostility," said Glover. The actor was later charged with disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly, the US Secret Service said.

One million people have fled attacks by pro-government Arab militias in Sudan.

7. Glover appears to be the only prominent American speaking out about Sudan!
It blows me away how that little weasel in the White House can skip around the country and do nothing about the incredible human suffering in Sudan right now. Here is a fucking chance to REALLY help a country in crisis, a REAL chance to be the beacon of justice and humanity in the world, and Bush is doing what? Our congress and senate.. what are they doing? Does ANYONE in power care about these people and this horrible crime against humanity?????

The journalists are busy tormenting Max Cleland. Busy reporting Bush's every bowel movement. Where are they on this? Where is Kerry on this? (I love Kerry, but I wish he's speak out more about this.. it's an excellent opportunity to illustrate how America SHOULD use it's influence to HELP the world).

Good for Danny Glover. He's been such a vocal, strong supporter for those with no voice. He has my respect.

12. there are others, and they've let themselves be arrested also
Rep. Charles Rangel
Rep. Joe Hoeffel
Rev. Dr. Robert W. Edgar, General Secretary of the NCC
Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield (Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream)
Rabbi David Saperstein and Zach Rosenberg of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism

lots of others, but they drop off the media in about 5 mins.

it's the only time what's happing in the sudan is in the news.

5. Thanks for speaking for those who don't have a voice, Danny.
Maybe if enough celebrities get arrested and enough emails get sent something will be done. Damn, this administration is blind and deaf to the suffering of others.

8. Good for Danny continuing in the great tradition of becoming an actvist
for your beliefs. I hope his actions will inspire the world to get off its collective ass and stop the genocide.

10. DANNY IS THE BEST!
He is a long-time political activist, and has done some truly wonderful work here in San Francisco for the community, including saving the Bayview Opera house that Caruso performed in and restoring the Conservatory of Flowers after severe storm damage.

He is a man of integrity who walks his talk.

Kudos, Danny! :toast:

:hi:

You got to HUG Danny Glover?!?!?!?

Okay, I'm totally jealous now. :)

I'm had a mad crush on him for many years now, much of it inspired by his many good works. I got to see him at the market over on Haight eons ago -- he's so damn tall he was impossible to miss!

BTW, it's blackberry season now you know. I've been picking like crazy. Care for some fresh JAM or PIE???

20. Man, he's gettin' too old for this shit.
But if he can take down a badass intergalactic hunter like in "Predator 2", then he should have no problem with this...

Seriously, though, I am glad he stood up for something so important.
