See our "Heritage of Rebellion!" Now, if one can get beyond the "flag issue" and go beyond "Civil Rights" which many of us Southerners fought for and marched for...can you understand that there's something there in our blood that makes us REBELS?

And, I use an an example the "Southern Poverty Law Center" and other groups who have fought against those Southern Tories...who felt that "preserving a way of life was worth a war against the Union."

IOW...what about that Southern spirit that just didn't like the Government telling us what to do! And taking that we were whipped up and inflamed with "War Rhetoric" (when most of us didn't own slaves and were against owning slaves) how does one understand that some folks still see their Southern Heritage as NOT RACISM...but "ANTI-ESTABLISHMENTISM?"

How many Southern DU'ers have been driven off here, because folks thought our views were weird, out of touch, against Dem priniciples...when if you'd scratched the surface you would have found we were "Anti-Establishement...Anti Bush" but you thought we were "Religious Fundies/Anti-Civil Rights/Racist or worse?

Not that there aren't "Disruptors" coming here spouting some vile stuff but what about us "Christian/Anti-Establishment Folks?" :shrug:

I am amazed with how good everyone seems to be. Here at home...NJ I get the finger for my Kerry stickers. In TN, I get waives and thumbs up. Never was any anger was thrown at me. People told me they were republicans, but they were nice and respectful. It's not like that here, sure there are more Dems then Repubs, but the repubs are real angry and show it. Quite often make asses out of themselves. You folks in the South Rock.

Empire Building Past where we have used "Might against Right." I think that "history of America" is important...and that "heritage" is interesting.

Thanks for seeing that not all of us Southerners are "Race Baiting, Slave Owning, anti-Americans in our own bloodthirsty past where we often stood for very terrible things which we called our "ideals."

I was getting to "heritage of dissent." That there's something in America ...which calls out to us to RISE UP AGAINST EMPEROR'S...BUSH...and that I find I go back to my Southern Roots for this DEEP.

But, I imagine even "Newbie" Americans feel the same callings I do. But, because of my very bloody and divided past...I feel it so strong..trying to fight on the side for truth is overlooked given the Bush/RW/Gingrich/Falwell/Fundies...side of the South...

But there are good folks out there..many on DU..and sometimes we get tarred as the "bad guys" about that "flag thing."

I guess I felt it was time for a Southern Post...but not a RACIST Southern post...but a "Call to Arms" against the Bushies and those who have stolen our radical personalities from us and used and abused it for RW Purposes..

A Nostalgia post..maybe. Not "RACIST...but Radical." :shrug:
