ABC responds to my complaint over Republican National Convention

Thank you for writing to the ABC Television Network. When ABC Sports is carrying a live event, ABC News frequently schedules
halftime news briefs as news warrants. In keeping with that, on Monday,
ABC News will broadcast a brief news update anchored by Peter Jennings
during the halftime show of Monday Night Football, which recently began
pre-season telecasts on Monday, August 9.

question = Why are you guys giving an extra half hour to the Republican
National Convention? The Democrats didn't get an extra half hour so why
the deference to the Republicans? First ABC News chose to ignore
stories about Iraq since the handover as requested by the Bush
Administration and now they are giving them an extra half hour which is
totally unfair. I thought ABC News was a fair and impartial news
source. But now I am seeing that it is just like Fox News. I am
officially boycotting this atrocious network until you end your
right-wing leaning news coverage and start being fair and impartial for
once. ABC is the basic cable version of Fox News!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

ABC is a disgrace. Keep emailing them and telling them what you think about this extra half hour.

2. The same ABC that was so worried about non-existant
equal time laws is now pimping *.

2 weeks back:
Actress NATALIE PORTMAN's political T-shirt statement on live American TV this morning (29JUL04), left bosses so worried, her interviewer asked her cover it with a bunch of flowers.
The STAR WARS beauty made an appearance on TV show GOOD MORNING AMERICA to promote her new movie GARDEN STATE, but her bold T-shirt bearing presidential hopeful JOHN KERRY's name and picture prompted veteran journalist DIANE SAWYER's fear her network ABC would fall foul of pre-election guidelines.

Partway through the interview, a smiling Sawyer said, "Now if I'm gonna talk to you, you're gonna have to hold flowers here in front of the John Kerry (T-shirt). We can't just have John Kerry the whole time. Who do we b ring in for equal time?"
A stunned but laughing Portman shot back, "Come on, you've got THE O'REILLY FACTOR. That's on television; that evens it out!"

She also took the opportunity to voice her support for the Democratic contender, adding, "I love John Kerry! I just think he has the perfect combination of compassion and intelligence and composure under pressure and I' m just a huge fan."

Un-cheneying-real!

3. lame
They also interrupt regular programming for news updates "as news warrants". But I didn't see any news briefs during the Democratic National Convention. Anyway, I thought the reason they were limiting coverage of the donventions because they weren't particularly newsworthy
