because of a theme: conservative republicans, neocons, and the silent majority as a demographic are threatened by liberalism, democrats, and progressives. And as a group on the short end of the political stick (as they are reminded each program), they have to be in a perpetual war for their rights. Gun rights. Fetus rights. Christian rights. Property rights.

More 15 years ago, some program director put his finger in the air and decided which way the wind was blowing for a lucrative radio talk show. Something where the prattle need not be witty, but rather simple and "common sense". Something that would appeal to the masses. Something that would get otherwise apathetic nonlisteners to tune in every day and cheer every other sentence by the talk show host.

Hannity is just another inculcation of such a developing entertainment model. Shit for brains? Sure. But it works. He looks no more intelligent than his listeners, and they like that. He's one of them as their spokesman. Consider the organization of his arguments. They are disjointed and disorganized. And when a guest or caller can "out-debate" Hannity, he falls into the bag of tricks known as logical fallacies. Example: instead of trying to win an unwinnable point, he personally attacks the guest/caller and/or changes the subject. This is America, ladies and gentlemen. Your neighbors talk just like Sean Hannity. This is why he is "popular", because he comes from the wellspring of the populus.

The few times I've been forced to catch any of that show, I have pretty much seen only the loud-mouthed Freeper. I just can't stomach this sort of thing, so it wouldn't be worth it to me to put up with Hannity to see Colmes. Buchanan and Press is not so bad. I never thought I would ever agree with anything Pat Buchanan had to say, but he is growing on me. Ever since he came out against the war in Iraq, he has had my attention. Anyway, welcome to DU! do you like feeling angry and frustrated?

The ONE and only time I watched that loser I wanted to shove bricks through my TV and engage in about two hours of primal screams. That or hurt someone.

My recommendation: don't watch him. Spare yourself. Personally I think listening to that shit pollutes your brain. Seriously. It's one thing to know their point of view (but I get it from reading the internet) it's another thing to actually LISTEN to the punks spewing shit all over your TV screen.
