IÕm very disappointed in the Democratic Zealots here on DU
Edited on Sun Aug-24-03 12:14 PM by Bushknew
IÕm very disappointed in the Democratic Zealots here on DU who care more about
the Democratic party than its principals. A party is nothing without its principals.

The Democratic Zealots tell us not to ask certain questions because they fear your making the Democratic party look like wacko conspiracy nuts and therefore lose us potential voters.

Without questioning this administration we would get no where. Frankly, our representatives are not questioning this administration enough.

These Democratic Zealots would probably shout down Westley Clark and Bob Graham
for challenging the legitimacy of the war not because they necessarily disagree with them
but out of fear of losing potential voters to the Democratic party!

Tell these Democratic Zealots to get over their fear and grow some balls. I donÕt
want the Democratic party to become like the Republican party, where we crown
our candidates.

Besides, who cares what Republicans think of us.

Tell these Democratic Zealots not be afraid to tell the truth.

By the way, anyone that comes to a political board to learn and exchange ideas
with other Democrats and becomes so offended by their ideas that they put them on
their ignore list is a big wet pussy.

10. Diversity is good

Red neck Republicans want troops along the boarder to stop all those Mexicans.

The Republican party will not GROW because of its zealots.

Diversity of ideas and people are good.

8. I don't get it -
There are, of course, Democratic politicians who won't stand up to the Republicans, but I don't see the rash of wussies on DU that you seem to see. I thought that with one or two exceptions, DUers fight Republicans with every breath, every word, every keystroke. Of course I don't get out much and maybe you've noticed something I haven't.

9. I'm very disappointed in the Leftist Zealots here on DU
They seem to live in an imaginary world where people are intelligent and not sheep, and that the normal joe sixpack actually wont feel alienated from a party that publicly says how evil ourtroops are or bring up wast conspiracy theories how 911 was infact a bush coup.

They further seem to think the democratic party still would have a chance to win the presidential election by just telling the truth and not engage in any mudslinging.

Tell these Leftist Zealots to get over their naive image of the world and actually understand how the system works.

A lot of people donÕt vote because

They donÕt believe/ have faith in EITHER party.

We need candidates that donÕt agree with Bush in the debates so IÕm not against mudslinging.

People are sick of politicians that say the appropriate thing instead of the right thing.

15. the Democratic party listens to people who do vote first
I find it funny that people who don't vote for the Democratic party assume to have a say in it's platform and stances. If most of working America unionized and started voting for Dems, damn straight things would change, but these people don't vote so they don't earn themselves a voice in the political system.

btw: the 'coup' occured 12-12-2000 but i know, we are suppossed to MOVE ON, right?

and now you are calling the people 'SHEEP' no, they may be IGNORANT but they are certainly NOT sheep. yes folks are willing to be lead but to lead them on LIES and DECEPTIONS is what got us into this mess, hello...

look in history where this leads, look at all previous empires in the past, shoot look at the recent past NAZI GERMANY and IMPERIAL JAPAN to start.

EACH 1 TEACH 1

17. It is the "normal Joe sixpack" ....
...whose kids are getting their asses shot off in Iraq. You think they don't want their sons and daughters back home more than the rest of us? Many of these military families are actively opposing the continuing occupation of Iraq. Pay attention to all the media attention that the military is getting in terms of anger over troops having to stay in Iraq on one-year rotations, the lack of humane living conditions, etc. Check out the Army Times website. They have had some extremely angry editorials.

If you recall, the same thing happened in Vietnam. It isn't the intelligensia that goes off to fight wars -- and I don't mean the generals and colonels, etc., who are Point graduates or went through OCS.

"Imaginary world where people are intelligent and not sheep"? I suggest that you read a bit more before attacking leftists.

19. Enjoying the life ...
bestowed upon you by the legacy of liberal, progressive policy ? ...

THANK FDR .... For stopping the GOP derived ruination of our great nation ....

THANK Truman ... for keeping his eye on the prize as he fought off the wolves of the right ...

THANK JFK ... at least for creating a dream, if not for establishing that dream ....

THANK LBJ .... for implementing the Great Society ... the War on Poverty was wildly successful ....

and THANK Clinton .... Though he talked a centrist game, he played it progressive .....

The liberal agenda is a FAILURE ? ...

AU contraire ! ....

It an UNMITIGATED success ...

You've been enjoying its fruits all your life ....

24. Well, Tamika, I do seem to need a translation
No DUer I have ever heard says anything nasty about our troups. We certainly would like to get rid of the powers-that-be that sent them there, and there is no doubt in our minds that they want to come home as much as we want them home. But, our troops? God, these are our sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, friends and friends' children. Wherever did you get this idea? And, while we do have many threads that question 9/11, it is our right to question.

We will never get joe-six-pack or the sheeple vote; and, most of the DUers here tell it like it is. However, "mudslinging" is a word that's a bit ambiguous. Most of us try to deal in truth. "Mudslinging," in my mind, is what the pugs tried to do to Bill Clinton. That, I'm against. Just the facts and what the facts lead us to believe, and this is legitimate discourse on this forum.

20. Principal
I agree. We are nothing without our principles. So it really irks me when so many Democrats talk about doing whatever it takes to beat Bush, even if that means resorting to undemocratic tactics like the Republicans.

I believe we are right and I won't ignore injustices in order to gain power.

21. I think Zealots is not the right term. Zealots love principles.
Hardliners is what I'd call the people you describe. Or maybe Yellow Dogs. Or DNC-doormats. Any other suggestions? Maybe we can have a poll.

22. to me it's like backing a team....
all of them work together to win...some players are weaker
in some areas, some stronger, but they all play a role
and hopefully the end result is a win for the team.

The Dems are my team. I want them to take back the
House, the Senate, the White House.
