N.Y. Welcomes Protesters With Discounts
NEW YORK - Discounted hotels and Broadway show tickets for convention protesters?

That's what city officials offered Tuesday to those who behave lawfully at the Republican National Convention. But the plan doesn't guarantee that only peaceful protesters will get the reduced prices and the free felt-tip pens.

"There is no reason we shouldn't welcome them in the same way we are welcoming the delegates and the press," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. "The right to protest is a basic American right ... and New York City is a place where you can come and get your message out."

1. Just when you think all is lost
You hear something like this. That's spectacular. :)

My only concern is that everything stays as safe as it can. Whether it's people planted within the protest to cause problems or some 12 year old punk taking the opportunity to break a window, the larger the protest the more unlikely it becomes that it will go lawfully.

2. knowing the scrubbies...
they'll claim all the hotels and restaurants that catered to them are really terrorist fronts.

3. not only that
but when the segment about that aired on one of the morning shows this AM, the newsreaders spoke about how New Yorkers were none too pleased about the RNC coming to their town. And as evidence, they showed HUGE signs, one of which, draped over part of a building, read:

SAVE AMERICA ... DEFEAT BUSH!
