They have one over at FR

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1111944/posts?page=1

Do publications send out requests or orders to message boards not to mention them on their forums ?
Or is this just a Bob Boudalang thing ?

These publishers have asked us not to allow any material at all to be posted to FR:

altpressonline.com
americanpolitics.com
antiwar.com
bloomberg.com
eweek.com
extremetech.com
gq.com
independent.co.uk
newyorker.com
pcmag.com
prevention.com
studlife.com
theonion.com
thetowntalk.com
universitystar.com
vanityfair.com
wired.com

Received another letter from Gannett Publications, publisher of USAToday, and several other newspapers. Due to contractual arrangements they have with third-party content providers, they have denied our request to allow posting of excerpts. They will only allow the posting of titles and links.

Please do not post full text or even excerpts from the following Gannett Web sites:

1. No, DU respects copyright laws
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 11:56 PM by elad
FR has been involved in lawsuits related to their copying of entire articles from news sources, and that is what that list appears to pertain to. DU has a policy in place that respects copyright laws regarding articles quoted on DU, and therefore we've never had a problem with this, unlike FR.

Brief excerpts are covered under U.S. Fair Use clauses and are therefore allowed from any source, but DU limits the length of these excerpts in our copyright rules.

For more information on DU's rules regarding this, please see here:

5. But DU has a list of sources DU don't want to be used...
e.g. in the 9/11 forum excerpts from http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/ are not allowed.
