That's only seven weeks worth for them- out of OUR pockets ... and our childrens' pockets ... and our grandchildrens' pockets.

I wish there was something I could do for the residents of Florida.

Hey. Cool! I just realized this was my 600th post. Wow! I guess my wife is right. I am on DU a lot - (but not compared to some)

3. It will be more like 15 billion with 3 to 5 billion insured. The Ins Co's
have set up a once every 10 year Hurricane cat 4 reserve of about 10 billion - out of a surplus/reserve of nearly 400 billion.

And since folks noticed that it has been 12 years - not 10 - since the last cat 4 - the stock values of the major property insurance companies went up as folks noticed that $5 billion was more or less the cap on the eventual payout (and that was most likely over the next 3 years despite those ads about coming to the destroyed house with a check).
