Air Marshals are pissed - have to dress like repugs

Between Aug. 29 and Sept. 3, "all FAMs (federal air marshals) will be required to wear coat and tie on all domestic missions," wrote New York Special Agent-in-Charge Felix Jimenez in an E-mail to marshals on Friday. The convention runs Aug. 30-Sept. 2.

The order was given so that marshals on shuttle flights between Washington and New York would "blend in" with conventioneers, sources said.

"They want all these people going to the convention to know there are marshals on the flights," said one of the sky cops. "It's just a big public relations stunt."

Jimenez would not comment yesterday, but confirmed he issued the order.

Jimenez wrote that marshals could "revert back to summer dress code" after the Republican convention. But it was unclear what that meant.

2. McCain mentioned this at the hearing yesterday.

In one of his many sarcastic remarks, he asked "I need someone to explain to me why the air marshals have to follow a dress code that makes them stand out like a sore thumb?" I don't think he received an answer, but this is really stupid!

Undercover cops don't dress like a CEO to blend in on the streets, and to go to the opposite end or the spectrum, retailers hire "regular people" as secret shoppers to get the inside information they are looking for.

Who is running this air marshal program anyway? Must the the shrub.
