Daily U.S. Casualties 8/24/2003


As of Saturday, 273 U.S. soldiers have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the military.

The British government has reported 48 deaths. Denmark's military has reported one death.

On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 135 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, according to the latest military figures.

The latest coalition deaths reported by the British military:


A guerrilla attack killed three British soldiers Saturday in the southern port city of Basra.
The latest military identifications reported by the Department of Defense:


Navy Lt. Kylan A. Jones-Huffman, 31, Aptos, Calif.; killed Thursday in Al Hillah, Iraq, by an unidentified gunman; on temporary duty with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
