Rep. Dick Cheney
He was Congressman from Wyoming I think for six terms before H selected him for Defense Secretary.

I don't have much memory of his accomplishments or activities as a US Rep. Did he write any type of legislation, any committees? Can Kerry-Edwards use his past experience in Congress against him?

1. I'm sure there is a goldmine of stuff in Cheney's past that
could be used against him. The real question is WILL Kerry/Edwards use Cheney's past role as a legistlator against him or will they continue to allow Bushco to define them as his daddy did Dukakis?

2. DU Admin Skinner...
Posted a thread on Dick's accomplishments (or lack thereof) while in the House. It pailed in comparison to Kerry. I'm sure someone will post a link to the thread. If not, I'll search for it.

5. Here's what Harkin said on Cheney!!!
"When I hear this coming from Dick Cheney, who was a coward, who would not serve during the Vietnam War, it makes my blood boil," said Harkin. "He'll be tough, but he'll be tough with someone else's kid's blood."

6. He voted against the school lunch program and Head Start
At one point, he was one of only eight reps out of 435 who were actually heartless enough to vote to take food out of the mouths of hungry kids!

http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2000/08/11/loc_cheney_defends_80s.html

Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Leland criticized Mr. Cheney's remarks, saying the Bush-Cheney team should work to strengthen public schools instead of help people leave them. He added that Mr. Cheney doesn't understand the concepts behind Head Start, one of the "shining success stories of the last 30 years."

Noting that Mr. Cheney also voted against school lunch programs when he was in Congress, Mr. Leland said the vice presidential candidate is only a "convert to children's issues" because he's now on a national ticket.

Mr. Cheney, who was sec retary of defense under former President Bush, told teachers he understands the importance of education in part because of his experience as chief executive officer for Halliburton Co., an oil equipment company based in Texas.

No, I am not making that last part up. I'm good, but I'm not THAT good!
