Clinton’s lake retreat(complement to the library and museum was) put on hold
BY ANDREW DEMILLO

Posted on Monday, August 16, 2004

Months before the Clinton presidential library opens in Little Rock, the nonprofit organization building the $165 million complex is looking toward Hot Springs for its next big project.

The William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation will likely begin work next year on a lakeside retreat that will complement the library and museum scheduled to open Nov. 18, said Skip Rutherford, the foundation’s director.

The retreat initially was to open shortly after the library’s dedication. Rutherford said the foundation decided a couple of years ago to hold off building the center until after the library was up and running. "We are not going to be doing anything with the Hot Springs project until after we get the library opened," Rutherford said. "We just simply do not have the people power to focus on that until we get the library opened." <snip>
