Phrases and terms I'm sick of hearing from politicians. (for starters)...
Edited on Mon Aug-16-04 09:00 AM by Skidmore
"in a bipartisan way" (every other sentence)

"Thank you for your_________ (insert leadership, service, bribe, etc. as situation calls for).

"My esteemed friend (after jabbing colleague in back with sharpest stilleto available)

"It's a different world since 9/11..." (now a convenient dual purpose excuse for implementing something that doesn't pass the smell test not tackling difficult issues during election year or for maintaining status quo through fearmongering)

"The president is a ________(insert bold, strong, decisive or other some such untrue descriptor on a bipartisan basis)leader.

1. Any mention of "children" makes me gag reflexively
Children have been used as the reason for every government action since 1975.

3. Good reflex. Whenever any government wonk starts talking
about doing something for the bay-bees, you can be sure your rights and your wallet are both being sorely threatened. Those old boys don't give a rip about any children anywhere and mostly consider child care a self indulgent hobby of silly and inferior women.

Any mention of "doing such and so for the children" should just about pin your bullshit meter.

5. Slippery slope
Family values (whatever that means)
Plain spoken (meaning the imbecile has the vocabulary of a first-grader)
Wartime president

Why does every Dem have to preface any dissent with, "Saddam was a bad man…" in order to innoculate himself from being called "unpatriotic?" This shouldn't be necessary. It goes without saying.
