The "chatter" on "al Qaeda-linked websites" thing...
I read this all the time. "Chatter" on al Qaeda websites.

Has anyone here ever seen one of these websites?

DU Lounge is risky enough. Stick to the GD, where patriots roam.

The couple that I've found -- linked from some Russian forums -- come and go fairly quickly. They are also in Arabic, generally, so I have no idea what they are talking about.

I have heard/read several accounts describing a couple of them as trojan horses setup by 'gung-ho' Americans (think Idema-wannabes) trying to somehow trap potential 'Al Queda' recruits. Interestingly enough, at least one of these fake sites has been used as a source for this 'chatter'. Talk about blowback.

7. On CNN's "In the Money" show this weekend...
...they were interviewing an NPR correspondent about, and I kid you not, "who is Al Qaeda's favorite to win the presidential election?" The NPR correspondent (whose name escapes me now) said that she has people who "monitor Islamic message boards" and "the chatter" gleaned from the message boards indicates that Al Qaeda favors Bush because he's been best for recruitment. Unfortunately, she failed to name any of the message boards, but her conclusion doesn't seem to fit into any sort of psy-op profile (which would probably wish to conclude that Al Qaeda would be better served by a Kerry victory), so I would assume her claim of the existence of such boards is valid.
