(assuming Goss is approved and Kerry wins)

1. If Kerry has any sense, he'll get rid of Goss.

2. We can only hope that Kerry finds some courage.
His display of it so far has been, to put it mildly, less than impressive.

5. well, I don't think he has even come out with an opinion on Gross
for this position. If he votes for him it is my guess he will probably retain him.

6. The more I learn about Porter Goss, the more disgusted I am
"If he votes for him it is my guess he will probably retain him."

Oh please don't say that. It would ruin my whole perception of Kerry.

If I thought, for even a second, that Kerry would keep him on, I couldn't vote for Kerry, because the administration would just be the same old same old. Not anywhere near as bad as Bush, of course, but weak, ineffective, and not able to accomplish much because they're cowed by the loudmouthed conservatives.

Maybe I'm naive, but I really believed all the feel-good stuff spouted at the convention.

Kerry, assuming he wins, is supposed to sweep in and clean house, out with the old right-wing shit, in with a new, honest, idealistic government. Why would Kerry keep a man who was against investigating the Valerie Plame outing, Abu Ghraib, Chalabi?

Why would any Democrat with even an ounce of integrity confirm this slimeball?

All Democrats have to pound out loud and long, from every rooftop, that Goss was against investigating the outing of a CIA agent (one of his "own"!!), against investigating the abuses at Abu Ghraib, against investigating the traitor freakshow Chalabi. What the hell is so hard about that?

I have to hope that Democrats have the integrity to not confirm Goss. If he is confirmed, I have to hope that Kerry has the integrity to fire his ass on the first day, then look deep and long to see what damage this creature caused in his short time behind the scenes.

ARGH! There are so many reasons to hate Bush and his monster minions. Near the top is making me, even for a second in time, feel SORRY for the CIA! F*cking hell!

14. Kerry apparently has called for
speedy confirmation hearing which would make me believe that he supports this. He probably supports it because having a knock down drag out fight that close to election is probably politically dangerous.

In this Yahoo news article dated Aug 10th it was reported that:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/nm/20040810/ts_nm/bush_cia_dc

Kerry joined Republicans and many Democrats in calling for swift confirmation hearings for Bush's choice of a fellow Yale alumnus

"The most important thing we can do right now is reform and strengthen our intelligence services as the 9/11 commission has recommended. I hope that Congressman Goss shares this view," Kerry said of the Republican committee chairman tapped by the Bush-Cheney campaign earlier this summer to criticize a Kerry speech on national security.

Maybe this is the out Kerry can use to get rid of him once elected.

You can bet your butt that if Kerry wasn't supporting this the Dems wouldn't be backing down. The only reason I haven't popped a vein over Kerry's support of this is the thought that he will fire him once elected.

8. I would BEG Kerry to fire him, but political reality would mean...
Kerry will keep him. Kerry would have a hard enough time seating a cabinet with a Republican Senate. And look for the Shrub to get a commitment to keep Goss during the debates.

12. lookin' that way
I had a link to an article about this but it no longer works.
It appears that they are afraid they will be seen as standing in the way of the war on terror. At least that is my take on it.

10. I have no doubt that Kerry will want his own DCI
Moreover, he'll want a qualified intelligence professional.
