Tweety, Imus, Stern, and others really piss me off...They Laugh at America
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 07:12 PM by KoKo01
and average Americans. They either sell politics, sex, sensationalism along with a dose of "celebrity" Newsweek/and other Media Whores blather, or they do "Liberal Week" where they pander to altruistic visions of America which in the end only supports their Globalist, Corporatis, Whore/RW FUNDIE/Aligned with Corporatists..VISION OF AMERICA. Their cynical view pervades the fabric of our society and allows the RW and the Coulters to do their dirty work, by making Americans some kind of Reality Show/Jerry Springer purveyors of sleaze who always need a "fix." Barf...their view of us...disgusts me, because of my view of THEM!

It's no longer my vision....in fact..never was. I grew up in family who rationed my TV viewing. I hated it growing up...but now I love them, because that time I had away from the tube selling me stuff allowed me to think for myself.

I think what TV has become is shilling for companies...but even in the early days...it's infancy it was doing this. But, at that time we had "individual owners" of corporations...not "conglomerate/mega merger entities who were like dinosaurs ruling the earth before they got so big the died and provided us oil producst and they were relegated to depictions in childrens books for the 20 Century.

I think TV destroys one's brain. I hope those of you with little children: infants and toddlers..turn the damn thing off so your kids can have time to develop themselves before the "media" does it for you.

It takes a great will and a more dedicated mind than I have to really feel that TV and the crap that's on it, does much good for civilization in general, until one is discriminating enough to cull the good from the bad and to take the "mediocre for what it's worth..and ignore it?"

Just my 2 cents...I turned the tube on for the last two days for "hurricane coverage" and was assaulted with so much crap..before I turned it off again..I had to post.

Yeah...I know ..what I say sounds like I'm a nutcase..but really it's amazing when you don't watch and just do little "peeks" how dreadful they are for ongoing civilization.

1. But Howard Stern is REALLY funny
Great writers, great gags. Agree with you on "Cowboy" Imus and Tweety tho.

3. Remake of Bugs Bunny
The old bugs bunny cartoon showed bugs trapped by a dog and bugs shows his wallet full of kids and the dog cries and lets bugs go and the dog gets trapped by a bear later and bugs bites the bear on the ankle.
The new version is the same up to the point were the dog lets bugs go, the change is now bugs picks up a big stick and smacks the dog with it.

4. I never really watched TV much until I was over thirty.
Most of my childhood, I lived in places that hadn't received television signals yet, or I was in boarding school. When I went out on my own, TV's were very expensive, so I never could afford one until then. I think I am better off for it.

I have been turning the TV off a lot lately, or watching videos of my favorite movies and just listening to the radio or reading stuff on the internet or in print. I think since the networks have been trying to palm off reality shows as entertainment, I have been watching a lot less.
