I am surprised there isn't more talk about troop withdrawals from
Europe. One hundred thousand Americans being removed from Europe is bound to have an economic impact upon the countries they have been stationed in. we all know how important American forts are to local communities and how hard Congressmen fight to keep them in place. Will this create even more ill will and maybe even lead to some sort of trade wars? I know Germany will be severely impacted. Not that I object to removing our forces from abroad I think it should be done in phases with forms of mitigation. I think if we ever want decent relations again with Europe we need to be "sensitive" to the economic impact. Please don't let this happen until Kerry takes office.

2. I expect the troops are a net drain.
Hence the indifference.
